Shall one compare thee to a fair beer, Not even this perfect porter before thou will do thee justice. Thou art more complex, brave and cunning. Thou have changed more than a brew will ever. Thou may be lil’, but thy mind is greater than words can speak and beer will ever taste.

Poured a dark brown color with aromas of coffee, light chocolate and a touch of hops. Flavors ear the same, not as thick as I would want my porters, but decent none the less.

Black with minimal dark brown head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is similar, sweet but not cloying, with some alcohol heat. Very, very good.

Pours an opaque brown. Lots of chocolate coffee and some alcohol on the nose. Taste is chocolate toffee and sweet malts. Alcohol warms on the finish which is dry slightly metallic and slightly tart. Exceptional beer.

Another solid offering from Evil Twin - burnt coffee and caramel comes through on the nose immediately and follows with some toffee, too. The mouthfeel is quite acerbic for a porter - not hoppy but the espresso bestows the bitterness. Thinner finish though, especially considering the heat it has, and it drops off a bit but still very good.

Clear dark black brown colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige to light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, alcohol, light coffee, honey notes. Flavour is heavy sweet and light heavy bitter with a long duration, malt bitter, sweet malt, dark roasted, dark chocolate. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20131012]

Connecticut brewed, bottled in July 2013, 12 oz. bottle $3.99. Black, light carbonation, minimal tan head. Aroma is very sweet with elements of molasses, toffee, vanilla, rich chocolate, coffee. Flavor is very sweet as well, initially cloying with a marshmallow and malt sweetness, and boozy burn when it first hits the palate, but settling into something very pleasant and rich: toffee, burnt sugar, chocolate, preserved dark cherries. Intensely flavorful, mostly pleasant, but the upfront cloying sweet malt kick brings the score down a bit.

Bottle from the Jitney.Pitch black and viscous. Deep brown head. The beer reminded me a lot of of FFF dark lord. Really deep roasted coffee and heavy molasses. The palate was full but not sticky. Alcohol was well hidden. I’d drink this again.

Woof! This one is huge. Pours used motor oil black with no head at all. Aroma is maple syrup, dark chocolate, anise, and coffee. Flavor is massively sweet in the beginning, with a big wallop of dark chocolate and black pepper and licorice. The sweet gives way to a milder, grassy middle, and a long, dark-roasted coffee finish that seems to go on forever. No alcohol present whatsoever. Awesome, but a bit much.

Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph. Pours completely opaque black with a medium, staying, creamy beige brown head. Aroma has nice chocolate, hazelnuts, vinious, light tart and roasted malts. Medium carbonation, light prickly. Fine dry and very creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of dark chocolate, vinious, kinda sweet, light roasted, some Nutella. Quite dusty bitter finish. Good.

Bottle at home. Pour is pitch black with a small brown head and good lacing. Leather, dark fruits, cocoa, vanilla, light roast, coffee, bready, graham crackers, and alcohol in the aroma. Taste is big dark chocolate, leather, dark cherries, earthy, espresso, sweet vanilla, light oak, and grass with a lightly roasted finish. Slick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. No real sign of the 11% alcohol. This one is dangerous.
