Pours black & slightly thick, inch of dark brown head. Smells of chocolates. Tastes of chocolates, coffee, metal, and coffee beans. Nice and thick. Would be great without the metallic taste.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a 355ml bottle on 8/2/2014. Pours close to black with virtually the smallest of heads. Has a powerful aroma, quite sharp aroma featuring dried dark fruit, roasted malt and booze. Taste wise, there is a lot going on, with roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, raisins, and booze all featuring prominently. It’s relatively sweet but this is appropriately met by quite a firm roasty bitterness. The palate is syrupy with the carbonation a touch below average. It’s quite a challenging brew and shows its 11.5%, but there’s still oodles of great stuff to be enjoyed here, particularly as it warms.

Out of 12oz bottle. I am really impressed with this beer. Very boozy, but it smells great and has a lingering taste that is very complex. I would go out of my way to have this again.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Huge body, small head, nearly black colour, nose of roasted sugars, grains and nuts, pours like molasses, tastes bitter, slightly of iron. (No where near Guinness Double Stout but it is there.) Remarkable but not something I’d have more than once.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
2/3/2014. Pours black with a beige head. Aromas of dark roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit, spices, licorice. Chocolate and licorice flavors, but with a little too much booze for my taste. Overall not bad at all.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours moter oil black with a very creamy head that must be drank to dissipate. Big aromas of brownie, chocolate, light roast, wood, oak. Flavors of chocolate malt, like smoke, light French oak, light sherry, light subtle vanilla notes (coming through from wood perhaps), brownie. Silky texture with a medium roasted aftertaste. Medium sweet. Rated right after a buffalo bandits game.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (330 ml). Very dark brown (almost black) with a small quickly diminishing reddish brown head and no lacing. Aroma of liquorice, dark fruits, chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, spices and caramel. Taste is moderately sweet with liquorice, fruits, chocolate, roasted malt, vanila, caramel, spices and a warming (alcohol) finish). Full bodied. Moderate carbonation. Spicy finish. A tad too much going on in this one, so the balance is so-so. Complex. Not so drinkable, even for the style.
