Shall one compare thee to a fair beer, Not even this perfect porter before thou will do thee justice. Thou art more complex, brave and cunning. Thou have changed more than a brew will ever. Thou may be lil’, but thy mind is greater than words can speak and beer will ever taste.

Bottle at Delirium. Dark and roasty, black treacle, caramel aroma. Taste is similar, lots of booze, full roast, coffee but also something creamy. Fruity and boozy. Good stuff.

Complete black color with a fine beige head. Nice lacing. Rich aroma with wood, chocolate and coffee. Thick oily body with a soft carbonation. Rich flavor with chocolate, coffee, wood and molasses. Tasty little devil.

Bottle: Pitch black pour with a smooth, burnt tan head that lathers up nicely & perches itself up top for a while. Big aroma of chocolate candies, burnt brown sugar, molasses, cookie dough, black cherries, hints of coffee, roasted malt, raisins, mild sweet cream, sticky caramel, & a touch of alcohol. Wow, lots going on. Flavor is very sweet up front. Huge residual brown sugar, toffee, caramel, & chocolate bursting at the seams. Underlying notes of roast, soy sauce, prunes, licorice, & mild ash lead into a chocolate brownie & molasses finish, stroked with a large ping of alcohol heat. Creamy body. A big beer, an intense beer. Perhaps just a touch on the overly sweet side at times, but otherwise this is pretty good.

Pours a medium brown frothy head atop an opaque black body. Nose of soya sauce and molasses. Very roasty - even burnt - malt backing with a molasses and cocoa front. Somewhat dry. Interesting. Purchased at Metro Liquors University Heights.

From tap. Looks nice, black with brown head. In aroma coffee, chocolate, roasty, dark bread. Taste mainly coffee and chocolate, with notes of vanilla and sweetness. Full body, smooth. Warming notes of quality alcohol. Good beer for long evenings of winter time.

12 oz. bottle, opaque black, mahogany head fades. Aroma raisin and molasses, metal, cherry, soy. Taste is maraschino cherries, dried plums, molasses, coffee, spice, tobacco, roasted barley. Palate is rich, not syrup, carbonation moderate. This is sweet, but roasty with a bitter finish, and the transition is very nice, layered and changing. Best thing I’ve had in days. It is a tad hot. Time in the cellar might turn this into something amazing.

(Rating #6059)
