3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 mathieuc (322) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 26, 2013
Bottle from Whole Foods Tribeca. Pours a really really dark brown with a thin moka head that won’t leave any lacings. Aroma is roasty when you end up disregarding the strong alcohol that attacks you when you first sniff. Taste is not too sweet but not completely dry either. Flavors of roasted malts and milk chocolate are what I could make out. Alcohol is a bit distracting but this is a 11.5% porter after all... Mouthfeel is good with a full body and a lower level of carbonation. A nice drink in the end!
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Chuckaduck (507) - Kentucky, USA - MAY 25, 2013
Bottled 3/20/13. Consumed 5/26/13. Pours dark brown with a thin, wet dark brown head which turns oily if you ignore it... Aroma is nutty, chocolate, roast malt, vanilla, hint of banana, some mustiness. Taste is big, complex; booze, some dark fruits, chocolate, nutty, hint of peat. Very full-flavored; excellent taste. Oily body; slick. Mild carbonation. Excellent lacing. Alcohol taste is strong. Really excellent. Highly affordable for the quality.
