650ml bottle from Beer Cartel, Sydney. Pours hazy bright orange with a fleeting small-sized white head containing a faint pinkish hue. Aroma has distinct lactic sourness, with notes of red berries, lemon citrus, fresh beetroot, possibly some damp wood, and wheat malt. Palate is fruity, tart and sour with a dry finish and a thinnish body. Very refreshing and sessionable yet still quite delicate and complex.

Backlog rating. Keg at CPK, London. It pours a rich orange color with small white head. Aroma is tart lactic acid, light lemon and soft red fruits. Taste is also tart and acidic with more lemon juice, tart red berries and straw. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Overall, plain but decent

On tap at CBC Clapham, cloudy scarlet-brown with a fast-settling head, disatinct notes of pickled beetroot and lemon on the nose, but there’s very little beet flavour, it’s more crisp and tart, with citric acid and just hints of aniseed and something vaguely vegetal.

Bottle from Wine Emporium 260915. Looks great in the glass but only a thin white head. Sour but in a good way.

I guess this was brewed to drink with a particular dish, without the food, it drinks like a rather thin, rhubarb influenced Weisse . Only hints of the beetroot and liquorice.

600 ml bottle from Gulating. Hazy slightly reddish golden body with a moderate sized off white head with a hint of pink. Aroma is fruity, berries and definitively acidic, floral and some kind of spices that’s difficult to identify. Flavor has acidic berries, sour fruit, light caramel malt, earthy beetroot, pepper and lemmon. Thin body that match the beer perfect and a long lasting tart/acidic/lactic fruity aftertaste with the same kind of unidentified spices from aroma. It’s a really complex beer that deserves some time, and its rather difficult to identify all the flavors, but in the end it actually ends up a bit too acidic for my stomach. Still a nice one, but something this complex would probably gain on a bit higher drinkability as I need quite a lot of this too make a prober rating.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a clear copper with a nice off-white head and champagne like-carbonation bubbles. Rhubarb, lemon, shiso and a slight earthy (beet-like) aroma as it warms. Taste is rhubarb and lemon zest with the licorice coming in on the finish. Nicely tart. Excellent carbonation throughout. Dry and crisp and super refreshing. Wonderful!
