3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Solid effort. Dark gold pour with a decent amount of head. Nose and taste similar with plenty of citrus, resin, pine, and fairly heavy malt backbone. Doesn’t need to be a 13%er, and like most other ET offerings, too expensive.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Why the hell did I buy this? - I wanted the saison, but that seems to be sold out all over town - I suppose it’s fitting, though - I tried their pils last week and now I am trying the other end of the spectrum - pours a hazy orange, with an impressive head for something so strong - the nose is bursting with tropical fruits, resin, a moderate mineral bite, moderate sweetness, and earthy, almost mushroomy note - fairly sweet and heavy, with some apparent alcohol, but given its strength, it certainly could be much more boozy (my cold guess would be about 10 percent) - fairly complex earthy malt profile - strongly citric and resinous hop flavors - light musk/dankness - some tropical/pineapple notes - finish is assertively bitter and surprisingly dry - they haven’t reinvented the wheel of anything, but I am surprised at how much I enjoy this.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Once Upon A Vine (North). Golden orange with fizzy dissipating head. On the nose I get pineapple, something like vanilla, and a cilantro-like note, with some dankness lurking in the background. (While the aroma is not what I usually prefer to smell-- I have to admit it is pleasing to me in its own way-- kind of like cobbler or cake.) Very bitter tasting and a tad medicinal-- more like what I usually like-- yet there is a lot of sweetness in there too. Soft carbonation, long bitter finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
P: Crystal clear burnt orange effervescent body. Topped with a creamy off white head that settles to a thick cap. Layered lacing.
S: Aggressive and powerful nose full of booze, bold spices and face slapping hops. Sweet toasted caramel malt, astringent alcohol, orange oil, lime, soap, pine resin, doughy yeast, and leather.
T/M: Spiced orange and lemon peel forward with toasted caramel and a aggressive sting of grain alcohol. Bready, resinous pine, melons and hints of honey. Warms the throat and chest on the way down. Black pepper and roasted chilies lurk in the background on the finish. Thick sticky body with just enough carbonation action to give a gentle tingle.
O: Put on your big boy pants and get ready for this explosion of palate destruction. Great exhibit of hops and strong alcohol. This would make a delicious winter IPA due to its warming sensation. This is a must try. Cheers!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap @ Original Gravity Public House. Burnt tangerine pour with a 1/4 inch eggshell foam. Aroma of candied citrus, evergreen resin, caramel and alcohol. Flavor shows orange peel, ripe tropical fruits, piney hops, honey-baked biscuit, and again, alcohol. The ABV is definitely noticeable but wasn’t overpowering. Nice brew.

On draught at Apex. Dark orange golden color. Aroma is caramelized hop, spicy, piney nectarine. Taste starts sweet, with caramel and orange, then becomes a little spiced and tropical, and finished with pine, grass, citrus, and hoppy astringency. Hoppy tickle on the finish.
