English: Did you like Before During and after Christmas? Maybe thought it pored brilliantly, the alcohol was admirable well hidden and you loved how the arrogant amount of hops numbed you. This beer will knock your tongue off, essentially due to the obscure amount of hops that went down this explosive fella – it’s a tour de force in hoppyness and by far the craziest beer ever made from Evil Twin – but not the last.

Pours a luscious slightly hazy orange/ dark golden with a medium offwhite head. Aroma is strong ripe fruits/ fruit cake with some orange marmalade and peaches blending alcoholic fumes, sweet malts and fruity hops, really good. Flavor is same fruitiness with some honeyish sweetness, some sherriness and nice gentle bitter aftertaste. Heavy palate, complex but very well hidden alcohol. More of an American Barley Wine than a Double IPA.

Alchemy, pure diabolical alchemy. The appearance reminds me of cognac... No head at all. A delicate balance of citrus and hoppy flavors, nothing is out of balance here. Not sour like other Imperial IPA. I can’t help but be reminded of some barley wines I’ve had. The slight taste of alcohol is refined, almost welcome. It reminds you that evil twins is pushing the limits of "beer"

UPDATED: APR 15, 2015 Single hopped with Simcoe edition. Aromas of hops, hay, grain malt, caramel, tangerine, apricot and cracker-like malts. Appears a bright orange yet with lots of sediment floating around (I’m guessing this bottle is a bit old and the hops are starting to drop off.) Taste is big honey and caramel overtones followed by buttery hops, hop oils, lemongrass, orange citrus and more caramel malt. Overall, not too bad. Well rounded but I just can’t seem to find a somewhat fresh bottle of this anywhere. The last time I tried was really expired and not good at all. C+ rating.

Hoppy nose with brandy and grapefruit notes. Pours cloudy Amber color with almost no head. Smooth mouth feel almost thick. Sweet at first with nice finish that moves to bitter oranges and malt. Great execution. Enters normal rotation.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into La Chouffe tulip glass. 169:14 is printed at the bottom of the neck of the bottle so I assume that bottle date is the 169th date of 2014 which happens to be 18 June 2014. It poured a nice orangey gold colour with less than one finger head which receded quite quickly leaving some lace on the glass. Smell was of sweet malts with some light citrus and orange coming through. Taste though… Sweet. Too sweet. Like lightly carbonated orange cordial, some honey and maybe bubblegum. One thing going for it is that even at 13%, you don’t notice the alcohol at all. Some of the hoppiness does creep through the sweetness at times but not much. Feels sticky, full bodied and lightly carbonated. Overall though, I’m thinking that now it is around 9 months from date of bottling, maybe some of the hoppiness was lost? But this was way too overly sweet for me. At first I thought that maybe I could enjoy half a bottle every so often, but the more and longer I think about it, I really couldn’t. Way too sweet.

12oz bottle. Date indicates it is about a year old. Pours light amber, very little white head, some spotty lacing. Aroma is warm hop, malt, honey, slightly boozy. Flavor is a lot less hoppy than you’d expect: lots of honey, sweetness, just enough hop at the end to stop the sweetness overload. Lingering bitterness. Alcohol is very well hidden, but I can feel it, if not taste it, and this beer is pretttty sweet. For first try from EvilTwin, and I’m not really disappointed, but not blown away.

Pours a burnt amber. Malty on the nose, roasty and hay. Heavy bitterness with a strange finish. Oily body. Intense in flavor but not perfectly balanced.

Dark copper colored body, thin off-white head, and spotty lacing. Booze, sweet caramel, resin, and pine. Full bodied with gentle carbonation, sweet and boozy throughout with aggressive bitterness.
