3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Republic in Minneapolis. Huge hoppy aroma, bright, sweet, juicy, heady. Taste is a bit sweet, plenty of hoppy bitterness but the sweetness keeps it from being perfectly balanced.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
33cl bottle served in a snifter. Pours thick and hazy orange with a very short lived bubbly head. Aroma is massive hops and clearly a lot of sweet malts but mostly the resinous piney hops which you just know from the intensity of aroma are going to destroy your palate. Taste is upfront medium sweetness with a huge (I mean massive) kick of hops. Wow this is one bitter beer but balanced well with the sweet malts but still a showcase for the hops. Not overly sweet like Port Brewing’s Anniversary Ale but over the top in every conceivable way like Double Crooked Tree. Thick, sweet, syrupy, bitter, hints of anise and licorice with marmaladey sweetness and severe hop bitterness. Hard to top this from an extreme point of view and I could imagine aging would do this no harm at all.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAY 12, 2016 Pours orange peel like clear, or better because is unfiltered, a bit hazy, with foamy white head. visually low carbonation with slow up rising bubbles.
Aroma is one of the best parts: without note of an alcohol, and with very intense aroma of hops, with notes of tropical fruits, Lychee, Papaya, pineapple, mango, etc. Some malts are detectable in the background.
Flavor is hoppy, with notes of tropical fruits, which I mentioned in aroma. Hop bitterness is high, but at the same time even malt sweetness. that mean, that malt flavor is a little too high and too Barley wine - like. Finish is dry, sweet, with smooth alcohol warmth.
Body is medium smooth, carbonation is moderate medium.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle. 310:14. From saveur-biere.com.
Clear amber color with a tiny off-white head.
Strong aroma of alcohol, dark fruits, sweet caramel malt and some sweet fruit liqueur notes. The flavor is extremely sweet... fruity sweet, sugary sweet and basicly just sweet... I’m having a type 2 diabetes hitting me right now... dark hops, strong bitterness, sweet malt and alcohol. Way too sweet to be enjoyable... or even drinkable. Extreme beer... but I hoped the extremity comes from the hoppy bitterness not sweetness... I need insulin...

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2015 Aroma is pine, grapefruit, floral. Appearance is dark golden, white head. Taste is pine, tropical fruit, malt, floral. Mouthfeel is thick, great carbonation and easy drinking for the alcohol. Overall, a little malty, not especially good, but not horrible either.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sharp, burnt vegetable hop aroma followed by caramel liqueur malt aroma. Opaque amber color, no head and very still. Like many massive IPA’s, I found it to be very sweet. It is also bitter, but in the way bitter chocolate is. Very cloying as well, softer body although very weighty. A great indulgence for Sunday afternoons but should be avoided for Friday nights...

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours out a darker copper color with a small off white head. Aroma is of some bitter citrus rind, light pine sap, bready malt and light drying alcohol. Taste is complex, a big punch of bitter, oily hooshops, grapefruit, citrus meat, light pine sap, oily resin, light warming alcohol, but for the abv not that much in your face alcohol.
