4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
from Erzbierschof - pours a cloudy dark orange beer under a long lasting white foam; hoppy aroma of cream, marzipan, honey and apricots; full-bodied, sticky palate with some astringency; pretty effervescent and tasty; hugely bitter and pretty dry; long fruity hoppy finish with a never ending bitterness

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tough one to rate. On one hand, its messy, hot, overly hopped and overly sweet. However when you look at the description on the label, it seems like thatís exactly what they intended the beer to be. The hugeness of the hops and malts is interesting, but the beer feels a bit like a liqueur. Iíve had higher ABV beers that felt less like a spirit than this one.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at the Trappist, Oakland. Colour is clear orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours. Fruits, hops, hints of alcohol and malts. Not as bad as expected, I was prepared for typical Danish glue mess.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Moderate to heavy roasted, caramel and light bread for the malt, moderate to heavy hop aroma of orange and grapefruit peel, light to moderate dough for the yeast, with peach, honey and a big mix of dried fruits. Head is small, frothy, off-white with some slippery lacing and good legs and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear light amber/orange. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately bittersweet and lightly acidic. Palate is medium to full, syrupy with soft carbonation and a sticky on the lips finish. Hoppy yes, but a big malty sweetness in this beer, and the fruitiness takes over and makes it a hugely complex DIPA.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared thanks to mverity! Pours a translucent golden color with thin ring of off-white head. Aroma is a lot of citrus hops and slight Belgian yeast. Taste is super sweet and kind of malt heavy, slight peppery esters, bitters as it warms. Not bad but I wouldnít want a whole bottle.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. The pour is a rich orange. The aroma is a sweet hop mess, a little piney. The taste, HELLO. What a hot mess. Burns the tongue at first, and on the way down.

really enjoyed this bottle. I wasnít sure what to expect - but i would relate it to Devil Dancer. Some folks have disagreed with that assessment, but i just felt the hops are definitely the driving flavor but there is some real chewy thick malt sweetness backing it up. @ 13% abv it is a monster to drink. maybe a bit more floral than devil dancer - probably uses more "modern" hop varietals, but a decent comparison by my estimation.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Soft and hazy blonde with one finger of white head. Rich and resinous nose with intense fruit and some over ripe notes. Very orangey. Flavor is rich and fruity, over ripe fruit and fruit skin. Interesting....
