3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle. Pours golden with a quite small white head. Aroma is mainly grapefruit and caramel, really great. Also pine, lemon grass and orange. Amazing palate, thick with a long bitter finish. Quite flat. First taste is sweet, almost sugar then taste is immediately transformed into a heavy bitter flavour packed with grapefruit and very long. Incredibly satisfying, one of the best beers I have had.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pourd in an IPA glass cloudy orange with small off-white head. Nose is heavy overripe fruit, citrus, peach, apricot and pine. The taste is sweet, bitter and the body is well thick malty and resinous. High alcohol content supports well this monstrous brew. There’s so much packed in one bottle, and finish is also complex and long.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a nice gold color with really white head and a little white head. Aroma wow.... Can you say rose? Smells like a bouquet that has been watered with vodka. Taste is floral at first, booze and citrus rind on the backend. Its haeavy but good.

Sweet and thick mouthfeel. Pines and less tropical earthy notes in hops. Impressive but not huge amounts.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Amber to copper in color. Smallish beige head. Big aroma full of, paler malts, fruit, resin, citrus along with hints of leather and alcohol. Full feel. Malt and wood seem to dominate the front. Dark brown sugar and pine in the middle. Finish has some light alcohol and linger ends in a peppery burn. A no holds barred type of IIPA. 9/13

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
An enormous, syrupy IIPA. Plenty of punchlike sweetness - red grapefruit, cherry, ginger pudding, orange rinds. An IIPA with the malts stealing the show? That is one way of looking at it. A good dessert beer, and it was selling at a fair price too.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Super strong IIPA by Evil Twin, brewed at Two Roads. Creamy, irregularly lacing, egg-white, densely structured head slowly dissipating in the middle, warm golden-hued light orange robe, lightly hazy with a suspension of pale, tiny yeast particles throughout, merging into one cloudy, peachy orange whole with the sediment added. Aroma of candied orange, Grand Marnier, wormwood, amaro liqueur, old dried ginger, biscuit, honey liqueur, pink grapefruit flesh, cognac, dried mango, old cake, almond, lightly toasted bread, varnish and other solvent-like odors which probably cause a headache if you sniff too long... Sweet onset of candied orange, baked banana and dried fig, deep sourish edge somewhere, softish carbonation, very smooth and thick, oily, resinous mouthfeel, thick honeyish and caramelly malt sweetness carrying the candied sweetness above until it clashes into the hops, providing an intense, tonic water- and grapefruit-like, very long lasting, drying, almost abrasive bitterness - a blast on the palate for sure. Retronasal grapefruit and, again, candied orange aromas testify this confrontation of flavors while in the back of the mouth, this caramelly and candied sweetness somehow manages to survive the wall of hop bitterness, going down bittersweet but still way more hop bitter than sweet. Already before the actual finish, alcohol comes in, warming and brandy-like at first, but becoming ever more astringent and intrusive towards the end, like some raw moonshine, somewhat messing up the fragile balance of sweet and bitter. This one intense beer even for an imperial IPA... Reminds me a bit of Dogfish Head’s 120 Minute, just a tad less alcoholic and in that sense more enjoyable to my personal palate - yet still very alcoholic, too much so in fact, if you ask me. Strangely, the alcohol in this one bothered me more than in the Heavy version, which is notably stronger. Ends too harsh, too solvent-like and too alcoholic for me, but I must admit that monsters like this fascinate me and it was an interesting experience to struggle my way through it - have a point for keeping my mind alert in trying to figure out whether I like this or not... Polarizing beer, fascinating and rich on the one hand, harsh and unforgiving on the other hand - making my rating land somewhere in the middle. Evil Twin is determined to attract craft beer lovers’ attention no matter what, that much is clear.
