3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
14th October 2011
Opaque black - brown beer, small tan head. Nose of dark malt and sugary bubblegum. Light palate, a little silky. Sweet malt and sweet molasses. Mild lactose and mildly spiced bubblegum. Finishes smooth with minerals. Fresh tasting but a little but much with the malty sweetness. Needs some hop relief.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500 ml bottle with 17.07.2012 stamped on it, label says best before 2015. Served in a goblet, the beer pours dark brown with about a half inch tan head that fizzled away quickly. Not much lacing. Aroma is sweet, the brew smells like candy and brown sugar, dark fruit, caramel, and molasses. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like brown sugar, caramel, molasses, dark fruit, and a bit of pear. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit creamy and sticky with moderate carbonation. I liked this brew, and I wouldn’t mind trying it again sometime in the future.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a deep reddish brown color with a small head that goes away fairly bit of ease.
The aroma is molasses and cinnamon up front. Some brown sugar, pear and fruit cake show more prominently as it warms.
The flavor is spicy and sweet, but not over-sweet... really. Rich flavors of molasses and dark fruit along with brighter cherry and pear fruit notes. The more it warms the more the soft nuttiness comes through, which is really really nice.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured a bit too cold into my teku. dark brown body and a minimal tan head that laces a bit.
Let it warm up and the aromas started open up. Sweet fruits, raisin/fig and brown sugar, finishing off with some yeast.
Hits sweet, roasted malts round out the body. Medium carbonation, relatively thin mouthfeel.
Enjoyable beer, I’d definitely drink more but it’s a little pricey, even for Evil Twin.

I drink a ton of Belgian darks. this one was good but not worth what I paid for the small bottle. I know it’s an import but, I’ve paid a lot less for other imports that were better
