3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Habanero (1698) - Tranbjerg, DENMARK - JUN 8, 2012
Bottled. Pours deep brown with a medium sized, short livin’ beige head. Nose of brown sugar, caramel, yeat and overriped fruit. Markedly sweet flavor with dark malt, dark, dried fruit, berries and molasses. Medium to full bodied, creamy to syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Ends up more dry with an alcohol touch. Goes well with a lump of good cheese.

0.5 l bottle, thanks Timo A! Hazy reddish brown color. Sweet aroma of figs, raisins. Sweet rich flavor with figs, raisins, dark sugar, nuts, toffee and maybe hint of clove, pepper and warming alcohol. Full body, oily palate with low carbonation. Nice dessert sipper.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 erickok (2371) - Tours, FRANCE - MAY 16, 2012
Dark brown body, bubbly beige head. Spices, sugary brioche, toffee, sweet sticky fermented fruit and rum. Mix between a bitter base, cookies and rum barrel. Foamy mouthfeel. Very sweet, but I don’t mind. Very Belgian. But sticky, but more hops than the usual quad. Like. (50cl bottle, reasonably priced)

Draft. Mahogony beer with a cream colored head. Sweet caramel aroma. Sugar and caramel/toffee flavor with light yeast. Medium bodied. Sugar lingers with caramel/toffee. Needed a glass of water after this one - way too sweet.

I had this beer on draft at Max’s Taphouse in Baltimore, Maryland, served in a snifter glass. The beer had a black color with a dark copper hue, with an average-sized, off-white, bubbly head with average retention, great lacing and medium cling. Its aroma featured raisin, plum, and some other dark fruit, along with toffee and candy, and a touch of earthy grain. The taste was sweet and fruity with notes of raisin, plum, and toffee, along with some sugar and candy, and a subtle, earthy sour-bitter finish. It was a creamy, full, wet beer with average carbonation and livelyness, and a thick, smooth mouthfeel.

500 ml bottle - pours marroon brown with glazing head and long sugary legs. Aroma of nuts, honey, iron, slight clove. Medium body with a lot of sweetness, some sharpness as well but a rather bland taste - I miss the excitement...
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 andyhwcinc (1166) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 29, 2012
Enjoyed on tap as 1 oz sampler before my friends showed up at Bad Apple in Chicago, IL. Appearance like cola, huge bubbly tan head, cloudy coke like brown. Aroma mostly of sugar, light fruit, definitely has that burnt sugar smell. Taste is very interesting, extremely sweet, retains a fruit like quality that is tropical, there is a caramel like quality to it, but it doesn’t taste especially malty. The name of the beer describes the flavor pretty well. Impressive.
