COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English: This is a true story about a dedicated belgian brother who spent all his hard earned money on a all inclusive Barbados vacation to pursue a life long dream – brew an old fashion dark Belgian infused with local muscovado sugar aka Barbados sugar – luckily the outcome is a first class candy coated, full-bodied and escapist beer – the best he ever made. Halleluja.

Bottled @ home. Clear reddish brown color, short head. Aroma of rich sugar, some ripe fruit, caramel malts, raisin. Only slight spicy from the yeast. Taste is quite sweet, bit dry, slight nutty. The belgian yeast is obvious, but not overwhelming and lets the sugary notes shine, the way they probably intended to be. Carbonation is quite low for a belgian style, which is perfect for me, coz usually they blow up in your stomach. Despite the sticky tooth, reasonably easy drinkable that way. Im not a fan of pretty sweet beers, but Im enjoying this one!

Pint bottle. Dark brown with a tan active head that dissipates quickly but leaves a half inch of foam. The aroma suggest super sweetness with chocolate and alcohol. The flavor is interestingly fruity and very sweet with a different kind of sweetness that is kind of like toffee. Alcohol is tasted. This is interesting and is indeed super sweet. Some kind of hop bitterness would be a welcome addition. Not quite cloying sweetness but too close for me.

Bottle from Ölbutikken. Dark brown with a medium head. This reminded quite a lot of a Brown Ale. Malt, sweet and with some roasted notes. Also nuts, brown sugar and some spices. Not the most balanced of beers but ok.

Bottle sample at the 12% tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 12/15/11. Pours hazy brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of sugary caramel, toffee, tobacco, molasses and chocolate. Toffee and caramel flavor with a chocolatey, roasty finish. Very sweet, but unique and enjoyable.

0.5 l bottle, thanks Timo A! Hazy reddish brown color. Sweet aroma of figs, raisins. Sweet rich flavor with figs, raisins, dark sugar, nuts, toffee and maybe hint of clove, pepper and warming alcohol. Full body, oily palate with low carbonation. Nice dessert sipper.

500ml Bottle: Aroma of malt, sugar, light dark ripe fruit, light caramel, and raisins. Poured brown/deep copper in color with a medium-sized, creamy, tan head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer, as well as around the edges. Hazy. Slightly sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of malt, sugar, light brown sugar, and candy. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Malt, sugar, candy finish. 8%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

From a 0.5L bottle, shared by Bergen Ratebeer Crew @Club Gonzo’s. A deep brownish-amber colored beer, topped by a low coarse blond head. Heavy caramel-sugary aroma with a sweet fruit-cocktail scent. Also a whiff of phenols and higher alcohols. Taste has a substantial fruit-sweetness, along with toffee and molasses tones. Sparsely hopped. Juicy mouthfeel. Feels full in the mouth, due the big amount of residual sugars. Alcohol warmth and a lingering sweet fruity/caramelly ending. Did easily fill my sweet tooth, and more.
