COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English: This is a true story about a dedicated belgian brother who spent all his hard earned money on a all inclusive Barbados vacation to pursue a life long dream – brew an old fashion dark Belgian infused with local muscovado sugar aka Barbados sugar – luckily the outcome is a first class candy coated, full-bodied and escapist beer – the best he ever made. Halleluja.

Strong, fruity flavor has hints of malt, yeast and horehound, and is quite sweet, maybe a bit too sweet. It pours a clear Coca-cola brown with an average light tan head. Flavor fills the mouth, being almost candy-like, having fruity, horehound, malty and caramel notes - tasty, but a bit sweet for a beer. Smooth, firm-bodied texture has a good amount of fizz. Overall, very drinkable if a bit on the sweet side.

Pours a deep reddish brown color with a small head that goes away fairly bit of ease.

The aroma is molasses and cinnamon up front. Some brown sugar, pear and fruit cake show more prominently as it warms.

The flavor is spicy and sweet, but not over-sweet... really. Rich flavors of molasses and dark fruit along with brighter cherry and pear fruit notes. The more it warms the more the soft nuttiness comes through, which is really really nice.

28-OCT-2011, bottle @home from "Fish & Beer". Clear brown almost no head. Nose is sugary sweet caramel with a hint of licorice - moscovado? Taste is quad like with caramel and dried fruit. Very sweet, almost no bitterness. Fine belgian.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 A: Dark pure-brown body. Just the faintest bit of light khaki colored foam. No lacing. S: Tons of caramel, brown sugar, a pinch of molasses and rum-like fruit sweetness. T: Like the nose, this is one healthy blast of sugary sweetness. Surprisingly, despite the clear abundance of residual sugars, I didn’t find it to be cloying at all. There is a nice cane-rum like flavor that brings some M: Given the sweetness, the medium body, gentle carbonation and smooth finish, helped keep any cloying vibe away. Impressive. O: A robust assault, but ultimately lacking the depth and complexity to be a mainstay.

50cl bottle at BRU, shared by Arve_Christian - thanks! Deep mahogany with a tan head. Sweet candy sugar like aroma with burnt sugar, caramel, malt, dark dried fruits and just hints of spices. Sweet and sugary with flavour of raisins and a very mild bitternes. Quite nice, but still a bit too sweet.

500mL bottle, no date for $12.99 at Olive Tree Market in OB. Clear dark reddish brown with a small beige head, fading to a ring rather quickly. Belgian yeast and ripe dark fruit (figs mainly) and molasses brown sugar notes up front in the nose--pretty malty and sweet. Light toasty malts are also present. The flavor adds some decaying leaves, and with it, a very slight tinge of something tangy. Still, quite sweet. The alcohol, though not all that strong, does help drying the beer out a bit, as well as some light roast char that doesn’t become apparent until the semi-dry finish. Bitterness peaked at a 2-3. Low carbonation with a big full body. This wasn’t too bad, but for the price, it sure was. I’d give it a 3 if the price factored in my rating, but this time, it won’t.

Bottled. Pours deep brown with a medium sized, short livin’ beige head. Nose of brown sugar, caramel, yeat and overriped fruit. Markedly sweet flavor with dark malt, dark, dried fruit, berries and molasses. Medium to full bodied, creamy to syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Ends up more dry with an alcohol touch. Goes well with a lump of good cheese.

Bottle. Cloudy dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel, oranges, banana, plums. Taste is sweet, brown sugar, raisin, banana with a peachy and spicy yeast finish. Pretty sweet stuff, though the taste has a nice complexity which makes this an enjoyable beer. For sharing I might add.
