3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Samís, Durham. Thick dark brown pour, firm cream-colored head. Nose of potent spice and chocolate. Mouthfeel pretty lush, with a nice (but not overly assertive) bite on the palate. Initially off-putting was a tart note, but the more you get into the beer the more it felt kind of like Texas Pete or some kind of sensible addition to the beer. Not bad.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap @ Urban Family. Pours deep dark brown with thick mocha head. Aroma is smoke and ancho chiles. Peppers dominate the taste, almost salty aftertaste. Thin cocoa malt is tasty but completely overwhelmed by the pepper. I love spice, so this isnít terrible, but could stand to be balanced out a bit.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2012 On tap at Friscoe Grille & Taproom in Columbia, MD.
Opaque, near black with brown head and fair lacing.
Aroma of chocolate, smoke, roasted coffee, sweet dark malts and chipotle peppers. The chipotle peppers are obvious but stay in the background.
Taste of roasted coffee, chocolate, sweet dark malts, molasses and hot smoked peppers. Again, the chipotle peppers are obvious but stay in the background.
Medium/full body, medium carbonation with a creamy, smooth mouthfeel.
Finally, a hot pepper beer that you can enjoy without burning out your palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown. Smells like ancho, aji panca and more complex pepper stuff - more than the beer actually is apparently. Yeah, I love the chile complexity and earthiness. The rest of the beer I canít weigh in on, I was just rocking the chiles.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark brown in color with an off-white head. Woah, intense nose on this! Super heavy on the smoke and chipotle aroma with a smell thatís almost reminiscent of the fire from charcoal on a grill. A bit of burnt wood and roast, too. The flavor is quite spicy and has sort of a hot sauce/BBQ sauce feel to it. A touch fruity from the peppers and a lot of roast and smoke. One of the more intense chili beers Iíve had.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Churchkey. Poured a near pitch black color with a small tan head. Aroma was roasted malts, toasty notes, with a touch of char and smoke. Subtle notes of chili notes, but beer is dominated with smoke. Roasted, toasted, pretty enjoyable.
