Clear dark brown colour with a small, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, smoke - meat - wood (chili fruit). Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, smoked, dark malt, peppery - chili burn finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120216]

From tap at Dronning Louise. Pours pitch black with no lasting head. Aroma is smoked ham and dark malt. Smoked meaty, light liqourice and dark malty flavoured. Light sweetness, dark roasted and smooth smoked. Light bite and spiced finish. Some vague acidic tang, growing sharp chili finish.

Ungstrup (29334) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - FEB 17, 2012
Draft. A pitch black beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has notes of smoked bacon, alcohol, roasted malt, and wood. The flavor is sweet with smoked bacon, chilis, roasted malt, chocolate, and alcohol, leading to a dry, alcoholic finish, where the chili really burns.

On tap. Pours an opaque black with hardly any head - killed by the peppers? Roasty nose, some dark dried fruit and a whiff of chilies. Medium body, low carbonation, roast and raisins with a solid dose of peppers that really build up on my palate and leaves a powerful bite. An interesting chili beer alright. 170212

Theis (13410) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 7, 2012
Draught at ACBF 2012. Black - offwhite edges. High peppery/chili, sweet malty, oiley, black pepper notes, light smokey notes, too much spiciness.

Dark brown. Smells like ancho, aji panca and more complex pepper stuff - more than the beer actually is apparently. Yeah, I love the chile complexity and earthiness. The rest of the beer I can’t weigh in on, I was just rocking the chiles.

Bottle courtesy of FrumptyDumpty, thanks! This one had just the right amount of smoke and chili, nicely balanced.
