On tap 5 oz. sampler at Pizza Paradiso in Georgetown, Washington, DC. Opaque and virtually black with small brown head and fair lacing. Aroma of smokey peppers and spice. Taste of pepper, smoke, toasted malt and chocolate with a somewhat spicy finish. Light body and soft carbonation with an unpleasant oily mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown. Smells like ancho, aji panca and more complex pepper stuff - more than the beer actually is apparently. Yeah, I love the chile complexity and earthiness. The rest of the beer I can’t weigh in on, I was just rocking the chiles.

Pours dark brown in color with an off-white head. Woah, intense nose on this! Super heavy on the smoke and chipotle aroma with a smell that’s almost reminiscent of the fire from charcoal on a grill. A bit of burnt wood and roast, too. The flavor is quite spicy and has sort of a hot sauce/BBQ sauce feel to it. A touch fruity from the peppers and a lot of roast and smoke. One of the more intense chili beers I’ve had.

Draft at Churchkey. Poured a near pitch black color with a small tan head. Aroma was roasted malts, toasty notes, with a touch of char and smoke. Subtle notes of chili notes, but beer is dominated with smoke. Roasted, toasted, pretty enjoyable.

With Kaetchen and Correl at Beer Revolution. Wonderful combination of smoke, coffee and pepper with lingering chili heat.

On tap @ B&L. Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a combination of smokiness and pepper with some backing roasted malt with a bit of green pepper. Flavor starts with roasted malts and has a strong backing pepper and smoke note with a bit of earthy green pepper.

Clear dark brown colour with a small, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, smoke - meat - wood (chili fruit). Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, smoked, dark malt, peppery - chili burn finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120216]

Draft. Medium brown head atop brown-black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, coffee, smoke, some pepper, bittersweet chocolate. Taste is moderately sweet, chipotle, some milk chocolate, coffee. Medium body, some stickiness, light pepper burn in the throat.

Draft at Farmer’s Cabinet with Vin, Dallas, and Tony. Pours a black body with small, dark brown head. Aroma is roast and pepper. Mouthfeel is carbonated with notes of hot pepper, roast, and dry hops.
