   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 17/20
superspak (2778) - Michigan, USA - NOV 15, 2014
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 2015 on the label. Pours slightly hazy bright golden color with a 2-3 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big lemon zest, orange peel, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, pear, apple, pepper, cracker, bread, light honey, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/spicy yeast and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon zest, orange peel, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, pear, apple, pepper, cracker, bread, light honey, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast spiciness and light tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon/orange zest, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, pear, apple, pepper, bread, light honey, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a crisp malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly acidic/creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Brett saison style. All around great complexity and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast and light-moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle- pours hazy grapefruit juice, bright white frothy head that's thick with lacing on the glass. Nose is Brett, wet horse blanket, bright citrus hops and some fresh tones of spearmint. Heavier bodied, Brett funky flavors, some sourness, fresh and clean. A great funky saison that's got some heft. Nice beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy orange gold. Aroma dusty brett, yuzu. Tastes dusty brett forward, also pine pale ale flavors, honey. Serious bitter for a brett beer. Creamy mouthfeel very dry finish.

A nice rye Hef/farmhouse. Pours a cloudy yellow with a white head. Smells good, with obvious eye, some grapefruit, citrus, pink lemonade, sage and thyme. Taste is quite citrus acid right up front with that rye bite. And some champagne. Finishes abruptly with classic beer and herby flavors. Three middle-aged women with head scarfs driving through Santa Barbara in their convertibles, when they hit this time warp to an 80s LA dive bar, that is what we taste. Had in the bottle.

[9/27/14] Draught sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2014 in Bodegraven. Hazy gold. Aroma of fruits, honey, yeast and flowers. Sweetish flavor with yeast, spice, honey, fruitiness and a bit of alcohol note.

Keg at BBF ’6, 27/09/14. Lightly hazed golden with a moderate white covering that retains well. Nose is citric peel, straw, lemon rind, yeast esters. Taste comprises bitter orange, citric peel, spice, hint of apricot, subtle brett, yeasty notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close, crisp and clean. Decent enough refreshing saison, brett is only just noticeable for me.
