4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Countbeer (2921) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - APR 6, 2013
Bottle:
Thanks Mark:
Almost gusher, big airy tan light brown foamy head that collapses fairly quick and leaves a lacing on top of a pitch black colored beer.
Aromas of liquorice, roast, dark chocolate, hint of whiskey/bourbon notes.
Flavours of roast, earthy, molasses, bitters, hint of vanilla, some bitter liquorice.
Aftertaste is bitter with roast and spices.
Low carbo, soft creamy close to silky mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture.
Good beer but somehow there’s just a touch of bourbon which makes me think it’s been aged for just a short time. Still damn tasty!

Uploading old ratings that were missing comments. Too much heat. Flavor is overwhelmed. A rare miss.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 laiti (4016) - Tampere, FINLAND - DEC 22, 2012
33 cl bottle @ lusikka, BBE 2015
Aroma has ash, some licorice, hints of coffee and vanilla. Foamy palate is too strong on CO2. Flavour has salty licorice, some coffee, vanilla and oaky notes. The bourbon is rather weak in here compared to other BA beers. Although it does get stronger towards the end of the glass, it is still not disturbing.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 tiong (2297) - Espoo, FINLAND - DEC 22, 2012
330ml bottle
BBE 2015 - Pours pitch black with a large foamy light brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, hints of wood, bourbon, vanilla and licorice. Taste is carbonated, roasty with sweet notes, hints of caramel, vanilla and licorice. Finish is carbonated, sweet with notes of wood, roastiness, vanilla and alcohol. Too carbonated, unbalanced and a bit messy.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 lusikka (4124) - Tampere, FINLAND - DEC 22, 2012
330 ml bottle.
Pours a black colour with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, bourbon, licorice and tar. Flavour of strong roasted malts, chocolate cake, salty licorice, bourbon and smoked wood. Medium bodied, way too high carbonation and a finish of roasted malts, licorice and chocolate cake. Carbonation is too high but other than that quite good.

In short: A moderately bourbonny impy stout ruined by aggressive carbonation and acidity
How: Bottle 330ml at Olympen, Oslo Norway
The look: Black body topped by a large tan head with good retention
In long: Nose has only light presence of bourbon, a lot of roast, overall burnt wood sensation in the aroma. Taste was problematic, my bottle was totally over-carbonated and it totally screwed up with my taste buds. I did note lots of roast, strong yeasty sensation like some kind of black Belgian ale, some vanilla, some bourbon barrels, black liquorice, dark fruits, a bit black chocolate, light notes of coffee. A bit of everything basically. This could have been a competent BA impy stout but something wrong happened here and my bottle was over-carbonated and also too yeasty. The extra-aggressive carbonation added an undesired acidity and basically ruined all the other flavor elements. Not bad per say, just lame and awkward. My last beer in Norway, I visited many many pubs and restaurants during the few weeks I was there, and judging by way staff were saying goodbye to me when I left each place I think "Bye cheap fuck" is Norwegian for "Goodbye foreigner from a faraway land".

Bottle. Courtesy of Chrisv10. Pours black with a large fluffy head. Nose is roast, ash, chocolate and coffee. Dusty yet very tasty coffee profile. A bit of oak, fruit and vanilla but very downplayed. A tad too carbonated. Bitter roasted flavor with a bit of charcoal. Very enjoyable.
