COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: In Denmark we have a lovely tradition for seasonal beer, and what you have here is certainly no exception. This is a never before seen collaboration between Ryan and the Beaster Bunny. A fluffy and precious Saison brewed on the beautiful island of Fanø on the west coast of Denmark. It may sound like a true fairytale, but don’t be fooled by it’s cute appearance.
Ingredienser: vand, malt, humle, gær.

Editor’s note: initially brewed by Fanø in Denmark

12 oz. bottle. Poured a hazy light orange with only a hint of carbonation present. Light lemon nose. Flavor of grass, lemon, pepper with a touch of coriander. Dry, mildly bitter and peppery finish. Medium bodied. Nice saison overall despite a poor appearance.

Bottle. When I bought this I thought it read differently, so I saved it for Easter. Golden and hazy with a white head. The aroma and flavor is pepper, spicy hops, herbs, yeast and tropical fruit. Medium body with a soft feel and a lightly bitter finish. It was inoffensive.

Poured from bottle into pint glass: Pours hazy straw with a large light white head. Full disclosure: I don’t like brettanomyces. If you do, you’ll really like this beer as it’s a good example of its use. If not, you won’t. Aroma is barnyard funk, grass, earth, straw, and other saison-y aromas. Taste is more of the same, with the brett really standing out. Light to medium body, good carbonation.

Bottle. Hazy gold with a tall, foamy white head. Strong yeast notes, earthy hops, funk, dried fruit and floral notes. Taste is wheat, toasted malt, floral hops, earthy notes, funky yeast, and light grainy and bready notes. Body is medium with a strong, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more funky yeast, earthy notes, floral hops, dried fruit notes, toasted malt, bread dough and grains.

Bottle picked up at CBB and saved to enjoy on Easter Sunday. A clear shining deep gold pour with a thick foamy head that lingers and leaves lacing clinging to the glass. The aroma is summertime, citrusy spicy saison. Very smooth bodied with a surprisingly full mouthfeel. According to the Japanese label honey is one of the ingredients, that honey sweetness does come through when you first take a sip. It’s followed by earthy spices, citrus, some mild saison funk and a slightly dry finish. I get the feeling wheat may also be part of the malt bill. A great saison, that really suits my tastes.

Fruity esters, lil’ bit of funk, yeasty, crisp, soft carbonation, frothy head with lacing, cloudy golden hue. Fine saison.

De color amarillo limón, nublada y con algún resto de levadura. Coronada por una buena capa de espuma blanca y fina burbuja que va desapareciendo hasta dejar sólo el encaje. Aromas a sidra y manzana, pan ácido. Algo de hierba, limón y especias, jengibre o cilantro. Buen cuerpo, oleosa y bien carbonatada. En boca es refrescante y con el alcohol aunque presente, está bien integrado. Entra cítrica pero rápidamente el clásico regusto de la levadura belga lo invade todo. Final seco. Muy buena.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2014 Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a murky dark apricot-amber color with a medium sized creamy orange-white head that left incredible lacing. The aroma was tangy and sweet yeast, pepper, orange, lemon and grapefruit. The flavor was tangy yet dryish with notes of pepper, must and orange. Long dryish pepper, must and orange finish. moderately full bodied. Decent.
