COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: In Denmark we have a lovely tradition for seasonal beer, and what you have here is certainly no exception. This is a never before seen collaboration between Ryan and the Beaster Bunny. A fluffy and precious Saison brewed on the beautiful island of Fanø on the west coast of Denmark. It may sound like a true fairytale, but don’t be fooled by it’s cute appearance.
Ingredienser: vand, malt, humle, gær.

Editor’s note: initially brewed by Fanø in Denmark

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2013 Pleasantly surprised by this beer. Much more bitter than I expected at first but the taste quickly gives way to a fruitiness that tastes like pineapple. Not what I expected from a saison (although I am far from an expert) but definitely a nice refreshing beer.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle, thanks to Zane. This is a solid saison. Huge spicy yeast character, fruity, citrusy, dry finish, sweet pilsner malts. Very enjoyable.

Bottle from Sam’s, Durham. Gotta love the reasonable 4-packs that have been showing up from ET. Nice cloudy pale orange pour, vigorous carbonation. Nose is bright, getting some fairly prominent citra hops along with tropical fruits, some grapes and some herbal qualities too. Crisp mouthfeel, light and playful. Sharply herbal notes again in the taste, along with fruit cup and hints of spice. Interesting and enjoyable hybrid saison.

Draft at Torst. Pours golden with a thin white head. Slight fruitiness on the tongue. It tastes of hoppy pineapple and it finishes clean. Solid but not spectacular.

Fluffy, silky head with slightly hazy orange sunrise body. Estery nose, with hand soap notes and some tannins. Green, herbal and earthy body. A moderate dose of yeast-dusted alcohol. A bit too green and a tongue lash of soap on the finish.

Visual: pours cloudy dense golden orange with a ridiculously massive head!!! About 9/10th was head... thick and foamy with extremely long retention, lots of activity. Nose: Fresh fruity hops on the nose with a hint of malt. Attack: fizzy/very creamy mouthfeel Mid-palate: alcohol, full-bodied 8/10-sweet peachy/citrus malts, light caramel/toffee Finish: bitter hops, bitter orange peel, grapefruit, lingering bitter and malty sweetness. Wow crazy head on this one, which translates into a super creamy mouthfeel. This one is quite heavy in terms of alcohol detection and lingering bitterness but has a nice body and fullness to it.

Bottle... Poured clear, golden a,ber with a moderate forming white head. Not a whole lot of head retention. Nose had herbal and floral earthy tones along with yeast spices and esters. Aroma carried through to the flavor. Dry palate, medium-to-heavy carbonation. Light fruits, malted sugars yeast spice and farmhouse-like yeast esters. Citrus/lemon-zest with a tinge of bitterness for complexity and balanced.

Bottle (12 oz). Clear yellow/golden with a medium white head and good lacing. Aroma is really spicy (almost overwhelming), grain, Saison yeast, herbal notes and light sweetness notes. Taste is slightly to moderately sweet with spices, malt, yeast and light bitterness. Alcohol isn’t well hidden. Medium to full body (too heavy for a Saison I think). Mouthfeel is quite dry. Lively carbonation. Not my favorite Saison. Too spicy/boozy to be drinkable or refreshing.

Hazy pale straw colored pour. Small white head. Little bit of lacing. Earthy yeast and malt aroma. Some lemony citrus mixed in. Taste is a nice malt, spice, lemon, yeast amalgamation. Dry, yet sweet. Pretty good.
