3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle purchased somewhere but the location escapes me. Probably Elevated or Casanova in Hudson. Consumed in pint glass. Pours a orange golden with pretty minimal head. Aroma has the spiciness you would expect and want from a saison. Some mild citrus and yeast funk too. Mouthfeel has a strong lively almost effervescence working for it. Taste actually leans on more bitterness than I anticipated especially in the finish. Spiciness is present as well with a nearly peppery quality. Hard to really find the traditional saison in there. Missing the yeasty funk and the healthy dose of citrus. Strange name and strange saison.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20
355ml bottle. Imperial saison. Gusher as it is opened. Bottling date is 03/05/14. Fairly clearing pour with some haze. The aroma is stale malt, vinegary lager, nougat, and marmite. Flavor is marmite, autolyzed yeast, just lots of savory character. Tingly dry highly-carbed mouthfeel.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dirty orange with a fluffy white head. Aroma of bananas and cloves, Belgian yeast and coriander. Very strong clove and coriander taste with a hint of banana. Tastes like a wheat beer. Bit over carbonated but still a solid effort.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Just hazy gold with a modest white head. Aroma of dough, oranges, coriander. Lightish bodied, lowish carbonation for a saison. Wouldn’t guess this was 7%. A bit of twangy dough, orange peel, pineapple. Rather dry and bitter finish is not as spicy as suggested by the aroma. Grew on me a lot - it’s far from rustic, but there is interest there and the finish is elegant.
