English: In Denmark we have a lovely tradition for seasonal beer, and what you have here is certainly no exception. This is a never before seen collaboration between Ryan and the Beaster Bunny. A fluffy and precious Saison brewed on the beautiful island of Fanø on the west coast of Denmark. It may sound like a true fairytale, but don’t be fooled by it’s cute appearance.
Ingredienser: vand, malt, humle, gær.

Editor’s note: initially brewed by Fanø in Denmark

Bottle shared by HopTsing & tia at the 19th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering. Pours a hazy pale yellow color with a large fizzy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of citrus, stone fruits, coconut, bread, mild spice and earth. The taste is bread, nutty notes, citrus, stone fruits, mild herbal hops. Medium bodied, slight lingering bitterness. Nice beer.

De color amarillo limón, nublada y con algún resto de levadura. Coronada por una buena capa de espuma blanca y fina burbuja que va desapareciendo hasta dejar sólo el encaje. Aromas a sidra y manzana, pan ácido. Algo de hierba, limón y especias, jengibre o cilantro. Buen cuerpo, oleosa y bien carbonatada. En boca es refrescante y con el alcohol aunque presente, está bien integrado. Entra cítrica pero rápidamente el clásico regusto de la levadura belga lo invade todo. Final seco. Muy buena.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2014 Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a murky dark apricot-amber color with a medium sized creamy orange-white head that left incredible lacing. The aroma was tangy and sweet yeast, pepper, orange, lemon and grapefruit. The flavor was tangy yet dryish with notes of pepper, must and orange. Long dryish pepper, must and orange finish. moderately full bodied. Decent.

Location: Draft at Growler, 3/28/14, My 100th Saison Rating!

Aroma: Crisp aroma, grass, spice, Belgian yeast, with some honey, fruity, and funky notes
Appearance: This one pours a clear golden color with a creamy white head and coating lace
Flavor: Crisp/clean flavor, grassy, good yeast/spice component, lightl sweet, and a clean bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a creamy and clean feel, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this one was a really nice Saison. It is packed with flavor, and fairly complex. They did a nice job with this one.

Bottled 11/07/13 and poured into a Perfect Pint 1/31/14. $4 single. Appearance: A slightly hazy yellow color with about a finger of a white head on top. Decent lacing. Very nice. Smell: Haven’t had too many saisons so I can’t base it off of past ones, but this one really smells a lot to me like a pilsner mixed with a witbier or hefeweizen. Huge hay sorts of flavors that are picked up in a typical pilsner, coupled with a banana and clove aroma, as well as some wheaty smells. Quite decent. Taste/feel: Reminds me of the smell a decent bit. A moderate/high carbonation hits the tongue first followed by the pilsner/witbier/hefeweizen sort of combination, and tastes less than spectacular. Pleasant sweetness initially. As it works its way to the back of the throat and down, the clove sort of flavor turns to a floral note with a mild bitterness and somewhat drying finish. Aftertaste is of some pale malts. My first few sips of this brew didn’t leave me with a great first impression (I got this weird clash of "off" bitterness and sweetness that were doing weird things to my tongue), but as it warmed a tick, the "off" bitterness died entirely and there was just a nice sweetness and solid bitterness. Saisons are generally deemed to be mega funky and taste like farm animals (?), but this really essentially tastes to me like a pilsner mixed with a hefeweizen or (more like) a witbier. That’s not a bad thing, because it’s a pretty good beer, but FOUR BUCKS for a single bottle? I understand it’s a foreign company and all of that, but the bottle says this is actually brewed in Connecticut. Overall, Ryan and the Beaster Bunny is a solid beer that I’d have again, but not if I’m paying for it at this price. Good nonetheless.

Bottle conditioned, yellow gold, slight haze pouring off the yeast. Honey lemon citrus aroma some spice and floral. Reminds me of a really good seasonal fresh honey. Kinda grapefruity at the same time but fruitier and less sharp citrusy but sweet also. Really nice aroma. Taste is smooth, foamy, malty, fairly sweet, citrus and spice, clove, black pepper. Grapefruit, citrusy finish. Tangy with some sharp citrus bite in finish.

Pretty nice. Nose is sour, funky, with lots of clove. Appearance is gold, lots of small bubbles, very attractive white head with great retention. Palate is dry, full, sometimes lush, with plenty of yeasty taste, bubblegum, and grainy notes.
