4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Finally getting some Evil Twin beer. On draft at Local Option in Chicago. Dark pour, very little head. Aroma full of chocolate, vanilla, malts and fudge. Flavor was soft and creamy on the palate. Sweet with a good amount of chocolate goodness coming through. A great beer to say the least.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 18, 2012 Bottle. Black with a porous light brown head. Aroma: roasted, tobacco/ashes, licorice, coffee, and there is something else here that I can almost place, but right now I canít pinpoint it, is it sweat? Taste: chocolate, salt, licorice, salmiak, coffee, vinous, fruity. Above medium-bodied, pretty smooth. Very unbalanced, but not bad.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Liquor Loft. Black pour with a finger or so brown head. Aroma is a nice soft mix of roasty malts, coffee and chocolate. Tastes are coffee, chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits and caramel -- in the background there is a light berry sweetness. The texture is thin for an imp stout - but it works for this one - far more drinkable than it should be. Alcohol warmth lingers on. Finishes dry leaving the light sweetness behind. Great stuff. Really balances out the typical coffee/cocoa bitterness with the perfect level of sweet.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml bottle from grape & gourmet. pours a deep, dark brown with a thick, creamy, dark khaki head that has great retention and leaves a rich coat of lace. aroma is great with bold, rich, roasted malts, mocha iced coffee, bakerís chocolate, and burnt brownie crusts with hints of smoked nuts, molasses, and vanilla with a touch of dark fruit and licorice as it warms. flavor is an intense and excellent experience with huge roasted malts, charcoal, and massive burnt espresso beans backed by sweet toffee, cocoa, dry oatmeal, and tart berries with hints of vanilla and earth on the back end. palate is full bodied and creamy on the tongue with rich carbonation and a bold, bittersweet, roasted finish. overall, a great imperial stout.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. A black beer, with a large, frothy/fizzy, mostly lasting light brown head. The aroma is moderately to heavily malty (roasted grain, coffee, chocolate), lightly hoppy (grapefruit), with a strong note of vanilla and minor hints of berries and alcohol. The flavour is heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery/creamy texture, lively carbonation, very long finish with moderate to heavy bitterness, moderately alcoholic. Maybe a bit ashy and slightly more sour than hoped, but apart this, itís a nice beer, with good berry fruitiness and a nice mouthfeel.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours deep chocolate brown out of the bottle and settles in completely black in the glass with a decent tan head that leaves great lacing on the way down to a thin cap.
Aroma is really sweet, malted milk balls soaked in vanilla is best way to describe it. There are roasted chocolate malts but the vanilla is really dominant. There is also a light coffee presence and itís a great nose overall.
Taste is a little more bitter than the aroma with roasted espresso and bakers chocolate. There is some sweetness with plenty of vanilla but the sweetness is definitely less prevalent than in the aroma. The finish is bittersweet and roasty.
The mouthfeel is excellent - super smooth with moderate body and soft carbonation. Velvety and dessert-like feel.
This is my first Evil Twin beer and Iím impressed. The feel is fantastic and it drinks far below itís 10+% abv. Solid. Looking forward to more from this brewer.
