English: This stout looks like soft dookie and some will say it smells and tastes like it too. If you like a thick, creamy and utterly vanillalicious stout you’ll like this one. If you don’t, get yourself something else instead.

Bottle, 50cl - Dark brown beer with a large beige brown disappearing head. Aroma is malty with notes of chocolate, vanilla, cherries, oats, leather and nuts. Flavor is malty with notes of of dark chocolate, espresso, cookie dough, earthy hops and lots of oaky vanilla. Very full beer with a smooth creamy aftertaste.

Black color; something is strange with the tap, and it comes out with a huge brownish head, creamy. The aroma is soft, with roasted malt, vanilla and candlesticks; light cookies; very light dust and pepper too. The body is quite strong, but the mouthfeel is partially cut by the heavily roasted malts; very strong dark chocolate flavor, with light residual sugars, strong spicy character, light frankincense, and in the end some tar, roasted malt and a bit too much liquorice; strong bitterness. Original, powerful. But, what an unfortunate name...

16.9 ounce bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both nice. Aroma is malty and sweet, the brew smells like roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit and a bit of coffee. The taste is similar to the aroma, but I think the roasty bitter flavors are stronger compared to the sweet ones. It tastes like burnt/charred malt, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and dark fruit. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit slick/coating and has good carbonation. This stout was more bitter than I expected it to be, but I did like it. However, at $9.99 a bottle I’m not sure if I would buy this very often.

500mL. The pour is fairly deep brown looking black in the snifter with a giant, cascading, deep mocha head. Sticky lace. Good retention. Nose at first has some volatile compounds like sugary strawberry and grape soda that subside to allow cedar wood, dark chocolate, cinnamon, Scotch like booziness, hazelnut, and vanilla. Taste is very dry but also bitter with a good dose of waxy dark chocolate and mild chili pepper. Nutella and hazelnut come through. Palate is thinner but heavy bitterness takes your attention away from this. Better than I expected and actually very easy to drink. Thankfully no cigarette ash, no lemon tartness, no soap, so DMS, no acetaldehyde, no soy. Good stuff.

Earthquake beer. After our building evacuated, I figured I would go to my local to check if the bottles had been damaged, and then take shelter under the bar if necessary. Staff provided us with emergency rations, including this one, on draft. Almost completely black, small brown head. Aroma of malted milk balls and vanilla beans. Taste is silky smooth chocolate and vanilla milk shake with a burnt edge. Very nice.

Hard to resist a name like this, almost a dare. Sophomoric stuff notwithstanding, I was not expecting to enjoy this one as much as I did. Almost like an imperial oatmeal stout in terms of its depth, heft, and splendidly chalky mouthfeel, it’s got just enough of a vanilla presence to complement the wonderfully balanced chocolate and roasted malts. Very yummy, and I hope to have this one again.

Bottle shared at Natifest ’11. Poured black color with a medium frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark chocolate malt and caramel aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted coffee and chocolate sweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where exceeded.
