Draft at Underground. Black pour, opaque, thin light brown head on top with some sticky edges. Nose is coffee, sweet chocolate. Taste is rich and sweet chocolate syrup, coffee, light hop. Full bodied with medium carbonation. A bit rich, some alcohol notes. A bit too rich and sweet for me.

[Bottle (500ml) shared with HogTownHarry, jercraigs & mabel -- c/o j&m] Pours a very dark amber-brown with an average size semi-lasting frothy light-brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, leafy hops, fruit and chocolate. Roasty flavour follows the aroma. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium bodied. Pretty good Impy Stout.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
September 9, 2014 - shared by J&K with me and blankboy. Deep brown-ruby, smallish frothy tan head. Smells like a middlin’ black IPA, nowhere near 10% alcohol on the nose. Taste - oh, there’s the alcohol nice light impy stout ... airy, strong carbonation, not quite imperial stout body, but a nice finish and a tasty beer.

"what a delicious surprise! like a hybrid of rasputin and victory at sea. strong notes of vanilla, especially in the flavor, with ample amounts of chocolate, roasted malt, and some hops to round things out nicely. quite smooth at over 10% too! wonderful beer!"

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A bit too watery for an imperial stout. Just some faint vanilla aroma. Good balance between malt sweetness and dark chocolate bitterness.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a silky black color with a finger of khaki foam. Nose is vanilla soaked chocolate with some underlying cola and hints of licorice and roast. Palate follows nicely with huge vanilla influence and a nice fudgy background to keep it interesting.

Bottle, 10%. Vinous and creamy coffee aroma, chalk, cocoa powder. Black colour. Very small light brown head. The flavour has a distinct nesquick note with a powerful alcohol presence. Vanilla and roast barley bitterness in the finish.
