3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 yngwie (9205) - Kristiansand, - FEB 4, 2012
UPDATED: APR 15, 2012 Bottle. An almost black one, topped by a dense, dark beige head of finger-thick size. Chocolate, roasted malts, some coffee and vanilla and even more chocolate in the aroma. The flavor has chocolate dominating, with roasted malts and some coffee. Warming, full-bodied and smooth, with a roasted finish. Sure a pleasant one. Rating: 7-4-7-4-15-3.7. 110930
Bottle. A finger-thick off-white head sits on top of a clear-looking next-to-black body. The aroma is super-smooth and mocca-ish, coffee, chocolate and a touch of hoppy bitterness. The flavor is dominated by mocha-ish flavors, quite smooth and mellow, with coffee. chocolate, roasted malts and some vanilla notes. Lasting finish with coffee, chocolate and some notes of bitterness. In my opinion, it’s too sweet, but it’s still a very nice and pleasant beer with lots of nice flavors. 120204

500ml bottle as Soft DK bought at Ølbutikken and shared at the Absalon tasting session ’12. Frothy tan-coloured, lacing-head. Jet black body. Choc-coffee aroma with mild roastiness. Similar taste profile supported by vanilla pods and a welcome malt-bitter tail. A powerful, grown-up brew (Copenhagen, hotel room, 12.05.2012).

Bottle shared with great beer friends at Baran, Bergen. Has a black colour with a small beige head. Coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malt in the aroma. Fantastic. The flavour is also wonderful with really a espresso coffe touch along with dark bitter chocolate and cocoa. Oily mouthfeel, and a medium bitterness. A really nice and joyful beer, and is well-balanced.

Bottle (Soft DK) and served in my Stone IRS snifter: Pours opaque with a small creamy tan head which left very nice lacework upon the glass. The aroma has notes of double chocolate chip cookies, vanilla wafers, shot of espresso, slight woody smoke and peat, Japanese Ichijiku Fig and over ripened plums, even a bit hint of leather and pipe tobacco. Very inviting nose to this brew but I fear it could be too sweet... but alas the taste is fruity and malt forward but hardly cloy. Some coffeeish bitters and that earthy smoke along with the alcohol kept the sweetness in check. Lush bittersweet chocolate candy and vanilla ice cream highlights the experience. The mouth feel is smooth and oily, not as heavy as I would have imagined. Overall, I found this a very solid brew and one that I would easily buy again. Complex and dangerously drinkable.

Draft to another at Dutch’s. Looks good; somewhere between Brown and black with nice pacing. Smells good too; coffee and malt. Tastes like it smells with good mouthfeel. I’m impressed.

Pour opaque black, with a large frothy tan head, that lasts forever.
Aroma of roasted coffee, bitter dark chocolate, milk chocolate, oatmeal, vanilla, slight rum-soaked raisins. Aftertaste is quite hoppy, and smokey.
Taste is sweet upfront, with a long and delicious smokey and bitterness at the end. weak boozy in here as well.
Medium body, with a flat carbonation. Quite smooth. Can’t wait for my next "soft Dookie" ;)
