January 2012. 12 ox. bottle. The addition of vanilla and cherries to the Soft DK beer really makes a great difference and makes this for a unique brew. Great balance and complexity.

Uploading old ratings that were missing comments. Nose was a little weaker than I'd like. Cherry note is a nice addition to the base beer but there's a little metallic twinge that detracts from it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. An opaque black beer, with a large, frothy, lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. The aroma is moderately to heavily malty (roasted grain, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, hint of molasses and coffee), with a strong note of vanilla, other notes of cherry and alcohol. The flavor is heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Full body, creamy/thick texture, soft carbonation, long finish with light to moderate bitterness, moderately alcoholic. Definately a nice surprise. Superior in each aspect: inviting appearence, powerful but not overwhelming aroma, with a balancing acidity and a great, creamy mouthfeel. Perhaps I’m overrating, but I really enjoyed the whole bottle. Best Evil Twin beer? IMHO yes, at least among those I have tasted.

Bottle shared by Tmoney99 Dec 2011. Pours dark brown in color with a thin off white head. The aroma is roasted malts, black cherry with a light tart note, chocolate with a light vanilla sweetness. The flavor had roasted malts, chocolate, black cherry, light tart character, vanilla with some black coffee at the finish. Smooth and slightly syrupy mouth feel.

Opaque black - brown beer. Tidy tan head. Surprisingly light palate, crisp as well. Something of a neopolitan vibe here. Dark chocolate underneath tart cherry, smothered with well integrated vanilla.A little hop bitterness before the semi dry finish, arrests and cloy from the sweet flavours.

Refrigerated brown bottle put on the counter and then poured into a white wine glass. Pours black with small light brown head that dissapates quickly. Little lacing, thick body, medium carbonation, and light cherry & roasted malt aroma. Taste is roasted malt, bitter coffee, some vanilla, some dark chocolate, and light herbal hops. I would say this more of an imperial stout than a fruit beer. Better as it warmed; chill and serve as an imperial stout. A little hard to drink and as far as cherry stouts I think I prefer NG cherry stout.

A - Dark black with a finger of frothy chocolate head. Fades medium. S - Roasted chocolate malts, cherries and other dark fruits, vanilla, molasses, black licorice, coffee, and some booze. T - Chocolate malts, cherries, dark fruits, vanilla, molasses, black licorice, some earthy malts, a bit of bitterness, some roasted espresso, and a bit of booze. M - Medium-full bodied moderate carbonation. Smooth and a bit thick with a sweet, warming finish. D - Bold and complex, but great balance. The extra vanilla and cherries are very nice.

Cask at the Brewdog Bar, Camden. Pours a dark mahogany with no head and little life. The aroma is rich, fruity and with big cherries. The flavour is uber rich chewy bitter and of course with cherries too. It’s a wonderful change of direction for a Christmas ale and very well executed.
