4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Whew aroma is aggressive musty green apple, obvious citrus hops and white wine influence. Glowing deep honey with off white head that falls to a strong ring. There is a nice white wine acidity with the aforementioned green apple expression as well as good bitterness and citrus. Really great beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
33 cl bottle. Hazy, copper colour with a medium sized creamy, white head. Complex, vinous aroma with bretts, hops, light malts, some wood, citrus and grapefruit. Light sour taste. Medium body, creamy texture and a good carbonation. Long lasting, vinous finish with a good bitterness and more bretts. Excellent beer, pushes the limits for an APA.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
33 cl bottle.
Pours hazy amber color with a huge and quite beautiful frothy head. Surprisingly farmhouse-dominant aroma, arpicot, yeast, some hops, goose berry bush and mild grass. Some funky tones appear as the beer warms up a bit. Flavor of apricot, lemon and some other citrus fruits, mild white wine notes, brett-like yeast, faint spice notes and some toffee. Sourish and a bit vinegarish palate with a sour fruity finish. Quite unexpected.

17/XI/12 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - BB: n/A (2012-1278)
Clear orange to light amber beer, creamy irregular off-white to yellow head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet, canned fruits on syrup, white grapes, little bit of exotic fruits, whine, rum, pineapple. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: very sour start, white wine vinegar, lemony, lemon peel, citrus fruits, grapefruit, pretty bitter. Aftertaste: sour, citrus, lime juice, lemon peel, soapy, very bitter. Disgusting, seriously...

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
In short: A semi-wild farmhouse kind-of-hoppy fruity pale ale. Original and very good
How: Bottle 330ml, consumed a few weeks after purchase, as fresh as it can be after a long boat ride Denmark->America.
The look: Cloudy blond-orange body topped by a medium white head with medium retention
In long: Nose is fresh fruity/citrusy hops (clementines, mangos, apricots) with a strong wild character and some wine barrels notes. The wild character did not feel really bretty, some other wild yeast strain I could not identified, but I like it. Taste is rather sweet upfront for a 5.5% APA, really sweet citrus fruits juice, like drinking the juice found in canned mangos, canned pineapples and canned apricots. Then the wild character and the barrels kick in and dry out the beer leading to a nice fruity farmhouse flavor. Not much bitterness and not much typical hops-related flavor here considering this is an hoppy beer, clearly the barrel aging transformed it into something else. At the store I took the bottle in my hands wondering what a Sønderho Hipster was and I swear I heard the bottle whisper “you’ve never heard of me before”.
