When two gypsies team up with an arrogant bastard, there is bound to be some criminal activity...better to view this project as a conspiracy rather than a collaboration. The strengths of all involved were utilized to break the laws of style guidelines...dark with deception, mysteriously smoked, unexplainably dry, and intriguingly hoppy...maybe it’s best not to even talk about it.

Found this at Bottleworks, bottled 26OCT12 Black with a light tan etch across the surface. Smells of earth, yeast, clay, some light smoke, some cocoa, and a touch of tobacco. Flavor is light, some oaky mesquite character earthy yeast and a little bit of alcohol and some bitterness. Medium body with light carb and a semi dry finish. Not really into it.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with off-white head. Smells fruit, figs and raisins. Tastes very much like a saison mixed with a porter, almost has a slight bretty taste to it. Light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, smooth easy. Not much of a finish. A decent beer. Unique. Glad that I tried it, but not sure I’d get it again.

smells smoky and chocolaty with a nice fruity backbone. Dark black color with a hint of ruby. Nice thin tan head. Taste is wonderfully unique like a smoked ported mixed with great saison. Smokey yet light and fruity. I think this beer is great

At the First Kinki Beer Tasting. The cola brown pour revealed a malty milk chocolate with some hops aroma. The taste was citrus, sour & not all that saison like on a medium body ok but maybe getting past it’s best... I didn’t get any smoke from it either...

Aroma: Chocolate with a bit of smokiness Appearance: Black with thin beige head Taste: Has the palate of black lager with a caramel and smoked malt flavor Overall: Im not a big fan of smoked beer but this one does a good job of providing that smoke profile while not crossing that line into that artificial taste of Rauchbeer.

Right off the bat, it is obviously dark but not oily. Slight matly and hoppy aroma with smoke in their too. It is nice and light and goes down smooth, with toasted and smoked notes. Solid overall.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small fizzy light brown head that faded quickly to a thin ring. The nose is pretty interesting, nothing really jumps out and dominates, there’s smoke, roast, light hops, dark wheat, some interesting yeastiness, all kinds of stuff. The smoke and roast seems to dominate the flavor pretty well, fairly heavy handed hopping, a lot of yeast influence. Just a minimal bit of alcohol noticeable on the back end. An interesting amalgam of flavors going on here. Adds up all together to make for a pretty decent beer, but not one that I think I’d drink with regularity. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation, lingering lightly smoky and yeasty finish.

I like interesting beers and this one is interesting.. Its a smoked amber saison with black IPA tendencies. A bit hoppy and smokey with some interesting yeast character.
