When two gypsies team up with an arrogant bastard, there is bound to be some criminal activity...better to view this project as a conspiracy rather than a collaboration. The strengths of all involved were utilized to break the laws of style guidelines...dark with deception, mysteriously smoked, unexplainably dry, and intriguingly hoppy...maybe it’s best not to even talk about it.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small fizzy light brown head that faded quickly to a thin ring. The nose is pretty interesting, nothing really jumps out and dominates, there’s smoke, roast, light hops, dark wheat, some interesting yeastiness, all kinds of stuff. The smoke and roast seems to dominate the flavor pretty well, fairly heavy handed hopping, a lot of yeast influence. Just a minimal bit of alcohol noticeable on the back end. An interesting amalgam of flavors going on here. Adds up all together to make for a pretty decent beer, but not one that I think I’d drink with regularity. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation, lingering lightly smoky and yeasty finish.

I like interesting beers and this one is interesting.. Its a smoked amber saison with black IPA tendencies. A bit hoppy and smokey with some interesting yeast character.

Bottle at home - thanks to Sune. Clear brown (almost black) - offwhite head. Licorice, fruity, ok bitterness, light light smokey aroma, ryebread notes, ok burned, light citric. Nice.

Bottle pour. It lives up to its description as a smoked saison. A tobacco taste mixed with earthy, grass funk. Very unique and well done.

The nose is pleasantly herbal with hints of dark fruit. A black pour displaying garnet highllights when held to the light. It supports a long lastng tan head, which produces abundant ringed lacing. Tobacco, smoke, herbs, and burnt grain ply the pallet with a hop induced bitter finish A grainy, yet faintly sweet aftertaste lingers. Light body with crisp carbonation. A dry mouthfeel. Oveall, while this may not be a "true" Saison, you can taste its influences. This is a well crafted and rewardingly drinkable beer.

Bottle @ Olutravintola Kukko, Kemi. Dark brown beer with a small beige head. Aroma has roasted malt, citrus, yeast and smoke. Flavour is some roasted malts, light smoke, some chocolate. A bit light palate but quite nice beer still.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a medium cream colored head. A sweet yeasty and chocolate nose. Light smoke, saison yeast, chocolate, toffee, citrus hops, melds together really well. Comes together like a roasted saison a bit. Maybe the hops have mellowed. Smoke lingers. Surprisingly good.

12 oz bottle: pour is almost black with some ruby hues in the light. Creamy sand colored head. Aroma is slightly sweet and tart. Hints of roast and funkiness. Not really getting any smoke. Roasty, hoppy flavors dominate the flavor. Think and dry. Really drinkable. Still no smoke though.
