I only had a sip or two of this, but it really blew my mind and I wanted to bookmark it. Absolutely wonderful- intense malt and hop profile, with a complexity that a couple sips just couldn’t pin down. Boozey without being overwhelming, bitter in the best way, and with the perfect finish I’d love to have every time. Absolutely a work of art.

(Bottle, MacKinlay’s Inn, Stockholm) Dark brown colour, almost black, with creamy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, caramel, black rye bread, dried fruit, roasted grain and tobacco. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, cacao, coffee with milk, roasted grain, dark rye bread and a balanced cacao bitterness in the finish. Full body, smooth and well rounded mouthfeel. A certain sweetness coming through. Alcohol well hidden. Exceptionally well balanced and very tasty. Lovely beer!

Tap @ Mikkeller & Friends.
Pours dark red color with a thick off-white head. Aroma of caramel, hops, citrus fruits and yeast. Flavour of caramel malts, citrus fruits, some berry notes and hints of wood. A bit weird mesh.

Bottle 33cl, a dark beer with very low brown head. Nose is on dark malt with vinous and oxidized touch. Aroma is on red fruit with coffee and dark chocolate notes associated with fig gackground, licorice, anise, less sweet, just malt and wood touch, seems like barrel aged.

Kraftig fyllig aroma med inslag av chocklad. Vid första smak verkar ölen söt och välbalanserad, men på slutet viker den av och visar en viss besk karaktär.

Black body, minimal light brown head. Excellent sweet roasted malty aroma with vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, licorice. Medium, lightly carbonated body. Really good bitterswett flavour with lots of vanila, black chocolate, coffee, pine, and a long bitter finish.

Bottles from State Line, Capone’s, and Frank Smith’s. Pours dark brown/black, somewhat thin in body minimal tan head, fizzy. Nose is huge pruney/raisin/figgy fruit, plus dark malt, earthy. Tastes light in palate heft...very light and fizzy, with flavor notes of roasty dark malt, fine tobacco, fig, prune, raisin, black cherry but not at all tart, rather sweet, with a medium to light palate heft and a heavily carbonated body.
