3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle courtesy of Chris, served in a stem glass. Pours black with a small rim of tan bubbles but no distinct head. The nose has huge notes of dark chocolate and brown sugar, along with anise, vanilla and a hint of dark fruit. The flavour is fairly sweet throughout, with big chocolate and molasses notes paired with vanilla, dark fruit and a hint of coffe. The finish is long and roasty with lots of chocolate and molasses. On the palate it is medium-full in body with a creamy texture and almost no carbonation. Overall, a great imperial porter with nice chocolate and vanilla notes. 2014-12-01

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Bottles and Cans. A very dark dark brown pour with a tan head Aroma has cocoa and caramel and molasses. Later down the glass, more of an espresso presence shows through. Sweet caramel, roast, chocolate, some molasses, with some earth and some anise. Medium to full bodied, with some roughness and some alcohol. Finishes in a nice blend between bitter (choc and espresso) and sweet (caramel). The bitter edges out. As ever with Evil Twin, beyond the cost per ounce, very solid, and excellent per style. 14.6

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Luekens in Clearwater, FL. Poured into a pint glass. Jet black, oily pour with a very thin short-lived mocha head. No lacing. Powerful aroma of roasted malts, milk chocolate, cocoa nibs, vanilla, peat. The taste was also bold with cocoa nibs, vanilla, dough, peat, roasted goodness, and anise. Creamy mouth with a very full body. Finish is slightly sweet like a chocolate morsel. Virtually no carbonation. It was a very old bottle (not sure what year) so I don’t know if that was on design or due to some long cellaring.
