Darker gold pour. Grass and grain in the aroma. Smokiness dominates tastes, but you can get some lighter grassy/citrus notes in there too. Fairly light body. Nice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Expectation: EVIL SMOKE!
Motivation: I had a slot left in the BYO 6 pack and this beat out all of the other shit
Hardware: 12oz bottle (bottled on 11/13/13) into Le Guinness
Nose: faint smoke.
Sip: a smoked pilsner indeed. grassy and floral.
Taste: mild bitter with the smoke confusing any accurate taste. not that I’m complaining
Conclusion: very hoppy pilsners are good as are smoked ones, but plain pilsner are boring. How is Unibroue’s Raftman a smoked beer? HOW?????

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark gold with a very light haze - lively body, frothy lace - nose of mildly honey-sweet maltiness, fairly rich campfire smokiness, some grassy hops, and a lightly tangy acidity - creamy texture, low carbonation - moderate smokiness and a bit of wood ash, medium bitterness, followed by a mineral bite that makes the bitterness pop a little bit at the end - it’s on the sweet side, but I think this makes the serves to temper the smoke and keep things balanced - nice smoked lager.

On tap, BA Vasagatan. Slightly hazy pale golden with white head. Aroma has smoke, spice, citrus, zest, flowers and toast. Taste adds some vanilla, earth and dusty malt notes with a dry mouthfeel.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle pours a clear golden/orange with a small off-white head. Aroma of citrus and fruity hops, with caramel malt. Taste is heavy on smoke, but not unprintable, some yeast and caramel on the finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium to dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (herbs), with a light note of ashes/smoke.
Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Very simple aroma, and the smoke itself is rather ashy, but the balance is decent for quaffing. Just kinda seems like a checkbox for a smoked beer rather than something that a lot of thought and effort went into...uninspiring and plain, but certainly drinkable and free from flaws.
