Smoked pilsner. I need to know what kind of beer cowboys drink, as I have recently become one. I want to be the best cowboy I can be, and I think drinking the correct beer is important. I already have a cowboy hat and a nice big shiny buckle.

Keg at CBC Holborn Garden, 10/07/14. Lightly hazed pale golden with a moderate off white covering that retains well. Nose is light piss, smoked malt, spice, citric peel, floral, toasted bread. Taste comprises light vanilla, hoppy pangs, floral, earthy, smoked malt, light campfire, caramel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent subtled smoked number, easy drinker.

Bottle: The aroma consists of light-moderate smoke meat, pilsner malt, faint lemon, florals, and grass. It pours a transparent golden-orange with a two finger white head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker soapy ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of light honey and pilsner malt. The finish has light-moderate smoked meat, light apple, faint lemon, florals, and hints of grass. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, this is much better than I expected...a really solid smoked beer.

Straw pour, small off-white head. Aroma is smoky, with notes of meat and spicy floral hops. Flavor is great- smoky malt backbone, notes of ham and floral hops.

12oz bottle shared by Andy at a tasting. Smoked Pils...sounds good to me. Massive smoke tones. Wow. Full on unapologetic smoke with a nice Pils balance. Really enjoyable. Nails it.

This is a pretty excellent beer other than lacking much of anything in the aroma. Light and slightly hoppy with a faint smokiness, this is a simple yet tasty beer.

Pours hazy golden with white frothy head. Smells of sweet smokey malts. A little dry on the tongue but pretty well balanced.

"Pours a hazy orange, more akin to an ipa than a pilsner. Also a little thinker in body than i’m used to for the style. But overall, the beer works. At first the aroma is a little sweet, then come the grassy hops and smoke. The smoke is more obvious in the flavor, which is actually quite balanced between the smoke, grass, and sweet malt. Nice brew."

I enjoy smoked beers, so had to give this a try. Some citrus, some malt, not totally a pilsner like I’m used to, and then the smoke comes in. Pretty interesting stuff, but not a beer I’m dying to try again.

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy amber with moderate foamy white head. Lots of carbonation. Aromas of hickory smoke and fruit. Sharp flavors of citrus and toasty malts with a smoky backing. Not the greatest taste but the sharpness cuts the smoke making it refreshing when chilled.
