He has proportionally longer arms than others, recognisable by his reddishbrown hair, among the most intelligent primates and uses a variety of really sophisticated tools. But what makes him so gifted and very sought after is his notorious ability to maintain deviously capable, deliver something unpredictable and always perform with a curious mind of a five year old.

21APR-2012, bottle @home, from "Ølbutikken". Dark dark brown almost black with very quickly dying beige head. Roasted, burnt nose with coffee and a whif of smoke. Taste is just as burnt but the oranges show up and adds sweetness and a citric tartness. Quite full for 6 %. Very drinkable, nice.

My second to last pint of the night was this fine example of a stout. Almost as good as the Soft Dookie I thought this was better by virtue of being somewhat sessionable. If I would have started the night with this it would have been tough to switch. I hope the rest of the beers from Evil Twin are just as excellent.

Aroma / Appearance - Black, oily, and smooth this is thick and dense for a mere 6% stout. Chocolate dipped oranges give it the feel of an early Easter basket. Smooth with bitter undertones it draws you into its trap.

Flavor / Palate - Orange glazed cheesecake bites pepper the throat with a texture like melted chocolate. Cadbury eggs transition to the mostly bitter malt driven finish. Despite the low ABV I almost feel like this one could easily sneak up on the unaware. If it were a $5.00 tap or Happy Hour special I know what I would be drinking.

Tap. Avenue pub. Pours a pitch black body with a great tight bubbled dark brown head that had nice retention. The nose is nicely roasty and thick smelling with just the lightest hint of orange peel. The orange peel comes out a bit more in the flavor, still quite muted and in thr background, letting the Stout play center stage. Richly roasty with just the right amount of malt bitterness. Some light orange zest bitterness on the late finish adds it’s own twist. Medium bodied with nice soft carbonation. Very nice beer.

Draft at Bar Great Harry. Subtle aroma cant detect much, The orange peel adds a citric bitterness, best to let this warm up a little. Nice creamy mouth feel, the finish is dry and the citrus lingers on the palette without being overbearing. A solid stout with a twist.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a cloudy opaque brown with a small brownish head. Heavily roast aroma - almost coffeeish. Medium body, hard roast flavours, vanilla - again almost coffeeish. Has a fairly tart edge from the added orange juice. 190212

Bottle. An unclear, dark brown beer with a small, dark beige head. Very roasted on the nose, towards burnt, quite a lot of coffee, some dark chocolate. The flavor is roasted and coffee-ish, with a roasted kind of bitterness towards the end. Rather sugary sweet on the palate, full-bodied and soft. Although quite sweet, it doesn’t feel too sweet, due to the intense roasted or burnt bitterness. A combination I’m not overly happy with. Still, not a bad beer in any way. 120219
