Bottle @ home. Almost pitch black, small tan head that settles quickly, no lacing. Some coating. Aroma, sweet malty, dried figs, dried fruit, dark fruits, dessert wine, milk chocolate. Taste, malty sweet, dark fruits, red wine, caramel, chocolate, wood. The barrel aging really shines through. Almost no carbonation. Oily mouth feel. Warming alcohol in the end.

Pours dark brown with no head and lots of floaters. The aroma is very sweet with dark fruit and syrup or molasses. The flavor is the same with roast malt and the port. Nicely balanced and a full body feel. Big burn in on the throat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Muito forte e tambem muito saborosa. Baixo amargor e predominância do doce. Se tivesse maior drinkability, seria perfeita.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that lasted with very good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark fruit, earthy wood aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy dark sweet flavor with a moderate to heavy dark sweet finish of medium to long duration. Another standout brew.

11.2 oz bottle shared with Tmoney99. Pours a clear brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have dark caramel malts, dark fruits, wood, a hint of smoke, the port barrel works a little bit better with this than the wine barrel in my opinion, some sweetness that works with this beer, smoke is actually very mild. This is solid and tasty. Thanks to b3shine for the opportunity to try this beer.

Poured from tap to glass. Deep copper red hue with fizzy brown head. Aroma is wood, wine, figs, toffee, caramel. Mouthfeel is great with a full body and soft carbonation. Taste is sweet with a wood dryness and an ethanol finish. Overall this is a great brew.

Dark brown color with dark red shades, and brownish head. The malts in the aroma are heavily caramelized, some old wood, no hops, hence very British. Good body strength, with moderate residual sweetness; dark caramel and dark malts flavor, a bit dusty and oxidized; warm alcohol and fair bitterness. Very light vinous note, that could be the Port. Nutty.
Very good, very similar to the second incarnation of Thomas Hardy’s Ale, although with a tad less character.
