330ml bottle pours a deep amber brown color with a finger of white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark fruits with some yeast and smoke. Taste is a fruit and chocolate malty sweetness with a herbal hop bitterness with a smoky finish. Medium to heavy body with light carbonation. A nicely done barley wine that is worth checking out.

Taste is sweet and slightly concentrated, dark malts, salty caramel, raisins, dark sugar, cocoa, oak, licorice, vanilla. Medium bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Damn this was good shit! A nice barleywine, madeira, licorice and bourbon barrel aging perfect mixed in one beer!? How can it get much better than that!?

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2013 2013-07-03: 7,3,7,3,14=3.4. Bottle at Sour & Bitter #2. Dark brown close to black with a minimal off white head. Barrel, prunes, figs, vinous, oxidized, toffee, sherry. Taste is near heavy sweet and medium bitter. Full body, oily/creamy texture, soft/flat carbonation.

Bottle. Opaque dark brown, minimal beige head. Taste notes are pretty much the same, but I think I’m just more in the mood for this kind of thing today than when I first tried it. Really hides the alcohol well. Good stuff to treat yourself with on a winter evening.
