4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle - Alcohol, licorice, molasses, dark roast and sweet dark fruit barrel notes. Jet brown with a thin rich light brown head. Molasses, soy, licorice and chocolate. Finishes nice and sweet with a bit of barrel and burn on the throat. Great oily mouth feel and everything in balance. A bit darker in look and flavor, but still really good. This is much better than the back room.

Small brown bubbly mediumlasting head. (At the festival: no head, looks very cloudy) Aroma is rich and sweet, dark malts, toffee, salty caramel, dark sugar, vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, raisins, licorice, tangerine. Taste is sweet and slightly concentrated, dark malts, salty caramel, raisins, dark sugar, cocoa, oak, licorice, vanilla. Medium bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Damn this was good shit! A nice barleywine, madeira, licorice and bourbon barrel aging perfect mixed in one beer!? How can it get much better than that!?

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cola brown, thin sickly bubble ring clings to the glass. Toasted marshmallows, very sweet, soya sauce shining through, and the aroma rounds off with the smell of the Safeway frozen juice freezer. Taste is mild for what this is, but still its a punch to the face. Prunes, soya, burnt sugar, almost but not a red wine. Sweetness builds but stays in control. Beer gets better and better the longer it sits. I drank this beer that is all.

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2013 2013-07-03: 7,3,7,3,14=3.4. Bottle at Sour & Bitter #2. Dark brown close to black with a minimal off white head. Barrel, prunes, figs, vinous, oxidized, toffee, sherry. Taste is near heavy sweet and medium bitter. Full body, oily/creamy texture, soft/flat carbonation.
Bottle. Opaque dark brown, minimal beige head. Taste notes are pretty much the same, but I think I’m just more in the mood for this kind of thing today than when I first tried it. Really hides the alcohol well. Good stuff to treat yourself with on a winter evening.
