Pours a rich amber to mahogany color with a finger of eggshell foam. Lots of rich layers of creme brulee, raisin, salt water taffy, roasted peanuts. A viscous body that coats your mouth with some underlying booze, hints of bitterness never quite make it out of the round sweetness but teases the back of the palate. Solid.

Bottle. Almost black with a red hue, thin film of tan head. Aroma of dark dried fruits, molasses, thick raisins, malt, black pepper, rich spicy oak, a blurry vanilla substance. Taste is rich but not boozy, with tons of oaky sweetness, sticky burnt caramel, coffee, toasted malts, and raisiny dried fruits. Very delicious and warming. Not very long duration, but otherwise a nice palate.

2014-11-20. Very dark brown body is nearly black with a tiny, fast fading brown head. 3+ Aroma is rich, moderately alcoholic, dark malt, leathery, sweet port like wine character. 7++ Flavour is similarly rich, sweet dark malt core, plums and dried dark fruit, prunes, sweet rich yet delicate port character. Surprisingly moderate alcohol character considering the strength. Smooth medium to full bodied palate is uncarbonated. Rich, and quite tasty but just a touch heavy for me today. I suspect I might add a point or two in a different mood. Bottle via trade with Duffman

Bottle from Healthy Spirits. Pours orange copper with a modest beige head and a fruit and alcohol aroma. There is a full-bodied dark molasses flavor with a smooth fruity finish and a warm alcohol trail.

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2013 2013-07-03: 7,3,7,3,14=3.4. Bottle at Sour & Bitter #2. Dark brown close to black with a minimal off white head. Barrel, prunes, figs, vinous, oxidized, toffee, sherry. Taste is near heavy sweet and medium bitter. Full body, oily/creamy texture, soft/flat carbonation.

Bottle. Opaque dark brown, minimal beige head. Taste notes are pretty much the same, but I think Iím just more in the mood for this kind of thing today than when I first tried it. Really hides the alcohol well. Good stuff to treat yourself with on a winter evening.

Bottle (330 ml). From kbudd19, thanks man! Dark reddish brown with a small ring of beige foam and no lacing. Aroma is sweet with grapes, plums, molasses, caramel, boozy, raisins, winey notes and chocolate. Taste is moderately to heavily sweet with grapes/raisins, dark fruits (mostly plums, but also dark cherries), molasses, caramel, chocolate, port-like notes and a warming finish. Medium/full body. Low carbonation. Sirupy mouthfeel. I prefered the Back Room to this one. A little to sweet and boozy, which doesnít help the balance. Quite complex. Good barrel-aged Barley Wine.

11.2oz bottle. Dark brown color. Thin off-white head. Couple bits of lace. Very big dark fruity notes, lots of fig, light vanilla, some caramel malt. Moderate sweet taste, but hides the alcohol much better than the malaga hvedegoop I just tasted. Bigger body. Smooth, slick, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Nice raisins, good barrelly light vanilla notes. Pretty tasty, rich, nice complex barleywine. Big sweetness doesnít bother me here. Awesome dates, dark fruits, raisin aromas, hints of chocolate.

---Rated via Beer Buddy by Sátyro
