COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: made for "The Trappist" in Oakland, CA.
The 8% ABV on the label is a misprint.

Tasted from the bottle, in July 2012. Enormous head of foam, absolutely black color - almost a stout look! Aroma is mild and pleasant. Taste is of s weird porter - coffee, citrus notes, well hoppy bitter and full bodied. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

50 cl bottle @ home. Pours dark brown with a little sediment and a tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, nuts, and hops. Flavour is roasted malts and hops with a slightly dry finish.

Bottle at Schouskjelleren, september 14th 2012. Dark brown body, big light brown head. Aroma of hops, roast and caramel. Taste of espresso with lots of sugar and pine, nice hoppiness but way too sweet for me.

Bottle at Schouskjelleren. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Fruity aroma with hops, dark dried fruits and malt. Reminds me a bit of a black IPA. Quite hoppy, with a nice bitterness. (2012-08-02)

It poured a dark, hazy amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was of fresh floral hops. The taste was hoppy with notes of herbal tones, fresh floral hops and a bit of a metallic flavor. Very interesting and very tasty.

Wood, brown sugar, dates, and maple syrup nose, with fudge hints. Brown, medium yellow head, good lacing. Very woody cedar and date flavor. Smoky fudge finish. Joyfully quaffable. Medium body. Rare combination of intensity, complexity and drinkability. Exceptional.
