Pours dark brown, almost black with a large foamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, espresso coffee, chocolate, hints of fruits and citrus. Taste is roasty and slightly sweet with notes of chocolate, coffee and ripe fruits. Finish is quite smooth, only slightly roasty and bitter with grassy hops. Okay, quite tasty brown ale.

Aroma has some vanilla, fruity hops, cocoa and hints of coffee. Flavour is roasted and rather hoppy with coffee, some gooseberry bush and licorice. Nice, but the big amount of hops makes this a bit weird and unbalanced.

Pours dark red-brown color with a large foamy head. Aroma of malts, caramel, hoppy fruit notes and some biscuits. Flavor of hops, dark fruits, malts, caramel and nut notes. The hoppyness doesn’t quite fit here, otherwise decent.

from Erzbierschof - pours a cloudy dark brown beer under a chaotic beige foam; nice lacework though; fairly toasted malty aroma with notes of cookies and walnuts; some fair earthy bitterness; long toasted aftertaste of brownies with more earhy tones

Bottle @ The Euston Tap. Deep lightly hazy brown color with a thin tan head. The nose is nuts, sugar-dusted cherry, some caramel. Balancing floral hops and dry countryside long grass. The taste is toasted brown bread, more cherry and chocolate syrup. Decent light hops on the long finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. Overall, a pretty tasty beer.

Post CBC in the Hotel - ’Oh crap I have bought too many bottles again’! Very hazy dark brown beer, big pale tan head. Palate is a little soft but with minerally crispness. Mild dark malts with a little toffee and that’s about all folks!

dark brown pour with a big off white head. Aroma was toffee, chocolate, and dark fruit. Flavor is very muted, ashy, lots of ash. Dry, bitter finish, sort of thin. Not my bag.

Grasiger, sehr weicher Hopfenantrunk, der etwas stärker als das dunkle, daran angepasste Malz ist. Weich, die Hopfigkeit steigert sich, ein cremiger Eindruck entsteht. Geringe Bitterkeit, zum Ende milder, wenig trocken. Gut! 11/11/12/12/10/12

Malzig-röstiger Geruch, Zitrus, Geranien. Startet dunkelmalzig, dann hopfig-zitrusartig, trocken-bitter. Abgang röstig mit Kaffeenoten, Schokolade, bittertrocken. Gut.
