bottle @ Party Source / Bellevue KY --- Nearly clear dark amber, frothy white head, broken curtain of lace. Nice looking brew. Taste is strong caramel malt that immediately adds power pine hops. Neither hops nor malt can’t wipe out the other, so both arrive at the finish. A really solid brew, big, alcoholic, nearly overwhelming.

Poured a translucent golden amber colour with a one-finger off-white frothy head that retained well and laced poorly. Carbonation high with medium sized bubbles. Aroma of soft sweet tropical fruits, citrus, pine and earthiness with no obvious alcohol. Taste with intense spiciness, fruity hops, citrus bitterness and balanced by sweet caramel. Light to medium body. Smooth with a lingering spicy bitterness on the finish. Alcohol there but well hidden. Strong and flavoursome. Very nice.

Pours an amber with a beige head. Slight haze. Sweet piney hop aromas with a bready malt backbone. Mango and orange aromas with some citrus and pine. Flavours are well balanced, with the fruity hop character matched well with a firm malt presence. Well carbonated and smooth. 10%abv hidden well

Me & me cats are huddled afore a space heater ’cause the outside temps are subzero with gusty winds and I’m getting no gas soze I’m without heat. The gas company can’t get here until the day after tomorrow to fix it up. Tomorrow the forecasted high is -1 F, and I’m frakkin’ freezin’
In other words, I can really use an Impy (I prefer the equally inadequate term "Double") IPA!
This puppy gives a difficult pour (freezing temps?), a small deep amber body with a Humongous rocky head that collapses way too slowly. The aroma that eventually seeps through is both citrusy and resinous, earthy with a solid whiff of caramel. It tastes dandy, mayhaps a tad too sweet with toffee and caramel, but the hop flavors and heavy zest bitterness cancel the sweets out of it. The finish is probably too sweet for the West Coasters in the group, but the biting bitterness does me fine.
I’m still freezin’ my nuts off!

Mikon luona 1/2015. Yang alone was quite decent moderately hopped imperial IPA. Mix with Yang was surprisingly "alcoholic"!

Toffee, a bit of biterness, full flavor. Great beer if you are after some thing with a big flavor.

Pours clear amber, nice head, scrubber cap. Smells caramel, toffee, alcohol, not much in the hop department. Taste is bitter sweet malts. Alcohol fairly well hidden at 10% when cool, but warmed up is more clear. Aftertaste remains bitter. For a DIPA this is pretty good, on the balanced malt-bitter side of the street and not overtly aromatic in the hops.

Wishing I’d had a Yin for this Yang, but as none was available I decided to crack the bottle to avoid spoilage. Best before 2015, but here it is January 2...missed it by that much! I opened the bottle, immediately inhaling a murky over-ripened banana and mango with hints of mandarin orange and booze. Stung my nose...in a nice way! The visual on the pour was a little disappointing; cloudy, dark apricot-colored, and a head that was there one second, and then not at all two minutes later. It lies there in the snifter, flat and motionless. Even after a hard swirl in the glass, the brew was only good for a half a minute of head; back to nothing in no time. The palate is flat as well, slightly sticky, with a medium body carrying off the flavor all by itself. A flavor of malty dough is predominant, the fruits in the aroma there and pleasant, but lay flat on my tongue. No life..no life in this. If this were better carbonated, I would probably have a lot better things to say about it. I like the flavor, but it needs to have some assistance in getting it’s point across. Meh.

Citrus and grapefruit on the nose from a copper pour with a beautiful half finger of fluffy, resilient head. Resin and citrus hop characters come through clearly on the palate with good malt balance and good effervescence that slips down with a healthy bite. Strong and bold and very pleasing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
