COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle @ Kaisla. Hazy copper with white head. Aroma is quite sweet, some grass, earth, citrus, pine. Flavor is dominated by earthy and grassy notes with malty sweetness. All the hops seem to disappear. Heavy and dull.

Tap. Avenue Pub. Pours a mostly clear dark copper to amber body with a small frothy beige head that retained as a wispy film. The nose is dominated a bit too much by the caramel malt for my tastes, even though there’s a fairly heavy amount if citrusy hops in here. The flavor is the same way, super sugary sweet with a lot of brown sugar, especially on the finish. I’m sure there’s a ton of hops in here, but they just get so dulled but the residual sweetness. Full bodied and very sticky with some fizzy carbonation that helps cut thru the heaviness of this. Not in my sweet spot for the style.

Bottle purchased at West Lakeview Liquors Chicago. Pours a copper colour that I cannot see through (it’s not cloudy or hazy though), white head that dies down to a nice ring, there’s also some cool lacing that looks a little like cotton. Aroma is sweet and citrus and there’s some caramel/ syrup in there too. Tastes sweet and good old citrus hop bitter, grapefruit and a touch of caramel. The bitterness is lasting on the tongue.

Pours a bit between an amber and a straw color. Little head. Smell is surprisingly malty. Sweet smells, almost a bit of red fruit. A bit like a barleywine lol. Taste is a lighter hoppiness, a bit of alcohol burn, candy sugar. Not that great of an ipa.

Curious impy IPA. It seems to have a blend of English-style and American-style qualities. Murky amber appearance. Fruity alcohol nips. Earthy, pungent, warming and citrusy -- grapefruit rind, lemon and bitter tangerine. Bold yet rounded bitterness.

Seved On tap.Oversized glass.Enjoyed on jun´11.Pours orangish amber in color.Chill haze.Off white small bubbled froth.Crown is creamy & lasting.Large lacings on sides.Mildy malty aroma, sweet malt hues, estery notes -ripe plums & strawberries- & resiny hops to the nose.Sweet bitter flavor with an slightly fruity touch masking hops. Creamy & buttery mouthfeel.Flavorful body, moderate carbonation.Piney & woody aftertaste.High ABV not warming at all remains well hidden. Two great partners in conjuction to create a big one!

Not a bad double IPA, but I was hoping for a little more from this beer. I was a little disappointed. I sampled one at the Railroad St on draft. The beer poured an amber color with a small off-white head. The head hardly left any lacing inside my glass. The nose was more malty than hoppy with a sweet tone to it. The flavors followed suit, with more sweet, bready and caramel malt than spicy and resiny hops. The beer was good, but just not what I was expecting, or what I think it could have been.

Overall solid IPA. High gravity no doubt but that is life and sometimes you must Pay the premium...

Pours golden orange with minimal head. Syrupy sweet mouthfeel. Figgy fruitiness with a slight herbal note. Very strong flavor with little bitterness. Nice.
