3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/13/2013. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep orange copper color with a 2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, caramel, biscuit, light toffee, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity of juicy citrus hops and nearly balanced malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, floral, grass, caramel, biscuit, light toffee, and floral/grassy earthiness. Sizable pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple, citrus rind, pine resin, caramel, biscuit, light toffee, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity of juicy citrus/pine hops with moderate malt sweetness; with a very crisp malt/bitterness balance and some lightly cloying pine resin bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a lightly slick, crisp, and very sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice DIPA. All around good complexity of citrus/pine hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle to IPA glass
Spruce, mango, papaya, lemon, soap, pine and caramel aromas. It pours a reddish amber with plenty of carbonation and a long lasting frothy off white head. Taste is mango and caramel, then some cigarette ash, pepper, and ending with lots of bitterness. The alcohol is masked quite well by everything that’s going on. It’s medium bodied and creamy.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
330 ml bottle from Portale Birra, served in a nonic pint glass. Nice dark sunrise orange, slightly hazy, with a tiny, creamy and persistent light beige head. Soapy and perfumy aroma, quite herbal/medicinal, with some wet tea leaves and wood notes. Lots of caramel as well. Light alchool and not near as hoppy as expected. Very malty in the mouth, again soapy, slightly astringent and sticky sweet. In the aftertaste it reminds of a generic toffee candy. At least the alchool is pretty well masked. Soft to average carbonation, medium body and oily texture. Felt more like sub-par barley wine. Would not buy it again.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Beautiful copper-orange color. A puffy white finger of head. The sediment whips around back and forth like one of those shifting murmurations of starlings.
Aroma is pretty standard U.S. IPA fare: mild woodiness, touch of sweet citrus. Caramel grain balance. When you agitate it, the malt kicks up into sugary sub-barleywine territory. The balance is key here.
Surprisingly malt-forward in the flavor. The piney hops spar with it admirably, and win a couple rounds. But the malt is no joke; it has a grainy quality to it. The aftertaste is pure oak and pine oil.
Bubbly on the palate; full-bodied. Dances a bit. This is a sticky, chewy IPA. Bitter as all get-out, and balanced by a thick, chunky malt. Really sticks around for the long haul.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, Beer Moth, Manchester. Amber pour with a fair sized off-white head. Fragrant grassy hop alongside citrus and a little caramel nose-wise. Sweetish flavour. which contained plenty more fruity hop and led to a dry bitter finish. Good stuff.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Hazy light orange with a lasting light gold head. Aroma is citrus rind and sweet pie-crusty malts. Intensely hopped palate, bitter orange, edging on medicinal, with sweet caramel malts. Sticky body, and despite a creamy mouthfeel, this beer was a bit harsh in the end with scorching bitterness and a low alcoholic burn.
