3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, shared by emacgee. Dark orange amber, super hazy-almost a plum color, with some light tan lace. Nose is sweet and citrusy, which I often expect whenever I try an ipa from Europe. This is a little more on the hoppy/dry side which I like but is still sweeter than I like my pale ales. Sticky and resiny and pretty good.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle from Bierkompass
Pours dark orange with a nice sticky head. Strong aroma has notes of exotic fruits, caramel, hops and alcohol. Taste is sweet with a nice hoppy note, with hints of fruits and caramel. Smooth, slightly bitter finish. Alcohol warms nicely. Could’ve used a bit more hops, but otherwise a great IIPA.
You should definitely try mixing it with Yin as it will generate one of the finest Black IPAs I’ve tasted.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Medium offwhite head. Deep amber body. Deep tropical fruit and citrus aroma with earthy pineapple notes. Dry-sweet mealy tropical fruit and pineapple taste with peppery spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Hot, spicy mouthfeel. Sweet earthy tropical fruit aftertaste with resiny notes. It’s not bad, but peppery, hot and alcoholic without giving much in return. (0.1l draft at DBF’11.)

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On keg at BrewDog as part of Taiji. Pour is orange amber with a white head. Fresh pine & citrus on the nose. Surprisingly malty up-front with caramel, butterscotch even. Citrus hops soon kick in though, fading to a long resinous finish. Very nice DIPA, in my opinion the better individual beer of the two.

Pours a deep, transparent orange. Super-skunky citrus hops on the nose -- some grapefruit and some overripe mandarin. Hops are more prominent in the flavor. It’s on the sticky side, with plenty of resiny hops. Lingers for a while.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap @ CBF. Clear amber/copper color, small white head. Aroma has fresh hops, caramel, toffee, pine, citrus, lime and some bread. Taste is a bit boozy and seems off-balance but remains easily drinkable; lots of caramel sweetness, lime and a strong, bitter, hoppy finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The pour is very dark for a DIPA, deep reddish amber with a thick cream colored head that lingers on top for a while and leaves spotty lacing.
Big, fruity citrus nose with pithy grapefruit and mangos. There is a sweet caramel note behind the hops and as it warms there is some resinous pine and evergreen coming out.
The taste is heavier and sweeter than I was expecting. The hops take on a candied character, like dried oranges, with lots of sweet caramel malts and toffee. The finish is bitter with pine and burns with alcohol heat.
The mouthfeel is pretty full for the style and sits heavily on the palate. Sugary sweet on the tongue.
This is a very sweet but tasty DIPA. I probably prefer mine a little brighter with citrus, but this isn’t too bad for a sipper.
