After some years in the cellar - tadaaa! It’s hazy dark copper with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of caramel, exotic fruits, it’s a bit like a barley wine, but clearly more hoppy. The sweet flavor has notes of fat caramel, preserved and fresh exotic fruits, peach, mango, citrus, a touch of pine, and the finish has warming, slightly spicy alcohol.

On draft. Poured an amber color with a white head. Aroma was malts, hops, citrus notes. Flavor was bitter notes to it from the hops, spice notes, sweetness. Can smell notes of alcohol on this one. Flavor was floral and pine notes, some citrus in there - a bouquet of hops. Lots of alcohol in this one.

Poured from a 330ml bottle. Orange color with a barely orange tinted head. The aroma is sweet dried fruit. The flavor is sweet and citrusy, definitely a malty kick.

Pours dark red/brown with big floaties. Smell is like a nice strong barley wine. Big caramel, muted hops, sweet malts. Actually pretty nice. But based on the nose and the appearance I am seriously guessing the age of the bottle. I could have sworn I haven’t noticed this at my bottle shop before. Oh well. Here is the taste. Taste shows some nice caramel backed quickly by bitter, but faded hops (pine and citrus). Definately old. Still this just convinced me that an aged IIPA can in fact make a decent barleywine. Still I would guess this was better fresh, but I am not completely disappointed by my purchase.

Malty sweetness with more acetaldehyde. Some bitterness and touches of tropical hops. Not amazing.

Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks solid; malty though. A slightly hazy brownish (burnt) orange with lacing somewhere between off-white and light beige. Smells malty first and hoppy second. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Malt bomb.

Bottle at home, picked up at Mile High. Pour is hazy amber with a big white head and great lacing. Heavy caramel, bready, grapefruity, orange peel, goopy, sweet malty aroma. Taste is much the same - kind of a malt bomb - with a heavy bitter grapefruit/orange peel aftertaste. Syrupy/goopy mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Another disappointing DIPA, from Evil Twin.

A slightly opaque medium amber hue with a white head that had good retention and no lace. Aroma had a strong hop presence, mostly resinous notes but there was some grapefruit, tropical fruits and a slight floral quality. Flavor had some nice sweet caramel malts upfront. Hops seemed to have more grapefruit than anything else. Finish was nice and dry. Moderate mouth feel.

12 oz bottle from Wilburs. Reddish amber and hazy with a sticky light tan head. The aroma is resinous hops, pine, citrus and tropical fruit, light alcohol and light toasted malts. Similar flavor with a medium body and a thin feel. Lightly sweet with a lingering bitter finish.
