3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours deep clear golden with great head and lace in an IPA glass. Aroma is big spicy, dank, vegetal, piney hops. Flavor is bracingly bitter heavy with pine and caty flavors. Feel is fairly full but the bitting bitterness dominates. Intense, well made, not particularly easy or quaffable.
Making a black & tan with the Yang...everything rounds out, it is still mostly a stout but with a bit more fruit and sweetness that was present in neither by themselves and the bitterness seems much more muted, though it creeps in.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample from 330 ml bottle @sbwf13. Amber with white head. Aroma of malts, fruit, citrus, wood and faint caramel. Taste is bitter, rich and full; fruity and citrusy hop notes and caramel and wood. Alcohol in the finish

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A solid brew but also a tad disappointing. Pours a bright golden orange with a soapy brown yellow head. The nose is sweet, floral, fruity and has accents of honey, citrus fruits, apples and toasted toffee. Nice mild malt flavours mid palate with a heavy hop bitterness and a ton of sweet fruity hops. Mild sweetness, honey, caramel and a moderately bitter finish. overall a solid bitterness but a bit flat.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle from the Art of Beer with a 8/5/2013 "bottled on" date. Pous a hazy golden amber with an off-white head leaving some spots of lace. Aroma has citrus and pine and caramel and spices. Taste is of resin and grapefruit, with an orangey/lemony presence. Solid caramel back with an oniony spicyness down through the glass. Medium bodied and sticky. Progressively more bitter and tangy through the glass. Finishes more bitter than sweet. Would like to try Ying & Yang for the black & tan, but this is a solid tasty DIPA on its own. An onion-ier version of Bells The Oracle??

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deep yellow. Nice tropical hops on nose with plenty of malt too. Round full body with very bitter hop finish. One of the most bitter beers I have had. Interesting and solid double but also a one truck pony.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Aroma of hops and caramel. The taste is surprisingly similar, far less hoppy than I expected. Boozy and bitter finish. Not what I was expecting at all, but a solid brew all the same. 10% alcohol.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy copper with some floaties and a large head. Aromas are caramel heavy and have a little citrus and resin, but malt is more present than anything on the nose. Flavor has a cutting bitterness that does not seem to have a strong direction... more of just a bitterness than anything. A bit of a herbal and resiny quality is about it with a little bit of oranges. Finish is decidedly bitter and nice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz brown bottle. This beer was randomly selected by my wife as the next beer I should rate, she even brought me a footed pilsner glass in which to rate it....and she picked one that is 10% abv. Hmmmm. Pours a very dark golden shade, head is slight but foamy around the edges. Light tropical fruits nose with grapefruit, and heavy caramel/toffee. Taste has bitter grapefruit hops and caramel malts. Finish has caramel malt with a fleeting grapefruit hop note. A solid double IPA, but not one that exceeds the threshold.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
After some years in the cellar - tadaaa!
It’s hazy dark copper with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of caramel, exotic fruits, it’s a bit like a barley wine, but clearly more hoppy. The sweet flavor has notes of fat caramel, preserved and fresh exotic fruits, peach, mango, citrus, a touch of pine, and the finish has warming, slightly spicy alcohol.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draft. Poured an amber color with a white head. Aroma was malts, hops, citrus notes. Flavor was bitter notes to it from the hops, spice notes, sweetness. Can smell notes of alcohol on this one. Flavor was floral and pine notes, some citrus in there - a bouquet of hops. Lots of alcohol in this one.
