3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from the Anderson’s. Pours a murky brown with some bits of yeast floating around. Muted floral notes on the nose. Nice maltiness balanced with some definite hop flavor but without bitterness. This one hides its double digit alcohol very well. nice beer to savor after a long day.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark orange, nice and clear, with thick foamy white head. Hop aroma, with the high abv coming through on the nose too. Taste is quite balanced, not giving the bitter finish that I was expecting. Saving some to mix with some yan later on.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Weak aroma. Maybe no so fresh? The taste is much better. Several dufferent tropical fruits. Dry and not so bitter finish without being sweet or cloying. Except for the aroma, great beer.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ home from Saveur-Biere.com - Color: clear amber beer with small carbonation and small white foam. Smell: malty and hoppy domination with caramel notes and some alcohol presence and a little bit spicy. Taste: really sweet and good balance of malt. Caramel and sugar canoe domination. Aftertaste: alcohol taste with a wet sensation. High bitterness. No really subtile taste domination of bitterness and alcohol.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: clear amber pour, near white head of creamy bubbles, with average lacing. Aroma: juicy with fruit (apricot, mango, passion fruit, grapefruit, pineapple, mandarin orange), solid malt backbone (graham crackers with honey), light resin. Taste: as the aroma indicates. Finish: bitter and slightly dry, but with a light toasty malt undertone to balance out the lingering fruity hops. Notes: As a standalone IPA it’s quite good. The alcohol is deceptively concealed. Mixed with what I found to be a very disappointing ’Yin’ resulted in a black double IPA that was actually better than the sum of its parts.

Tap at Torst. Lovely tropical fruit nose, like candied mandarin oranges, peaches. Amber-orange color. Sweet flavor of candied fruits, orange, tropical. A bit heavy but tasty.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (12 oz). Hazy copper/amber with a small mostly lasting off-white head and little lacing. Aroma is of sweetness, piney hops, some spiciness, caramel, alcohol and light fruitiness. Taste is moderately sweet and quite boozy with spices, caramel, piney hops and light fruitiness. Medium to full body. Moderate carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. Warming finish. Sticky resinous aftertaste. Not horrible, but another way too boozy and to sweet Imperial IPA that lack balance and isn’t easily drinkable by any mean.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
355 ml bottle bought at The Bottle Shop in Sai Kung.
Looks: Translucent dark amber honey colour with thin traces of yeast sediments; Half finger head and light-beige foam which fades in 40 seconds. Excellent sticky lacing with quite fizzy carbonation.
Aroma: Fragrant and sweet Ale malt, with grapefruit, light passion fruits, berries, light plums, raisins, floral nectar, orange, molasses, strong honey, light pine, yeast and very light grass.
Taste: Medium sweet Ale male, with grapefruit flesh and zest, strong alcohol, molasses, very strong pine, resin, earth, spices, strong yeast, biscuits, very strong lime, strong bitter hops and sharp grass.
Body: Medium body. Slick and quite oozy palate.
Mouth Feel: Good Ale maltyness in moderate body. Strong citrusy hops with strong grapefruit and very bitter lime. Sweetness is not too strong. Strong pine but lesser resin. Good earthy spices, very yeasty. Solid but not spectacular.
Booze: The 10% abv is quite prominent in taste but not hard-hitting to the senses. Very good!
Hoppiness: Fragrant citrus, dark fruits, floral nectar and pine in aroma. Monotone strong grapefruit, strong lime, strong pine, resin, earthy spices and grass in taste. Strong bitterness, very astringent for a lasting, good strong bitter and sweet finish.
After Taste: Fairly dry. Very limey and strong bitter to mouth.
Comments: So this is supposed to be mixed with the Yin, but as a standalone IIPA, this is pretty solid, with hops aroma a lot nicer than the rather simple citrusy and bitter taste. Well-managed 10% booze is its strong suit. A middle-of-the-road pack.
