Based on the one other beer I’ve had from evil twin all their beers taste like their own thing completely and this is no exception to what I am now going to call a pattern. This thick bitter ipa is extremely bitter but still palletable. Very enjoyable.

Bottle. Amber clear. Piney resinous hoppy nose with maillardized caramels (sort of cola- like). Full body, sweet caramels, but bitter nuff to clean the palate. Some citrus, bit sharp, grapefruity. Pretty good drinkability, reminds me of bd’s hardcore ipa in that respect. Some berries in the finish. Nice easy (considering the insane abv!) dipa.

Draught at BrewDog, Shepherd’s Bush on 23 July. Poured a hazy amber, with a thin white head. Aroma of mango, toffee and floral hops. Malty flavours, with some caramel and grapefruit. Finish was bitter resin, tart fruit and dry grain.

Very hazy burnt orange with a small, not retentive head. The aroma has citrusy and floral hops, strong caramel, and alcohol. The flavor is pretty much the same but I can tell from the hops it has been sitting awhile. There is a boozy caramel that is similar to a barleywine, but finishes dryer than one. There is some strong bitterness and also some residual hop flavors on the finish. Good but I’ll assume better fresher.

Pineapple, grapefruit, citrus. But...totally stomped on by the alcohol. Bitter finish, which would be great if it followed a huge hoppy fruit rush rather than booze, but it doesn’t. Reminds me of drinking Tenants Super as a teenager - a great imperial IPA surely shouldn’t do that.

Pours clear orange with a moderate white head. Nice hoppy and herbal aroma with notes of tropical fruits, citrus and light caramel. Flavor is light sweet, heavy bitter with a long duration, herbal hoppy, caramel. Ends dry with a long bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. Deep gold with a beige head. Sweet pineapple and tropical fruit with mild hop aromas. Tropical fruits, slight malt and not much bitterness.

Keg at Brewdog Shepard’s bush. Golden coloured pour with a lasting white head. Aroma is wood, oak, spicy hop, orange peel and warming alcohol. Flavour is big grapefruit back of the throat bitterness, semi sweet, alcohol and some Belgian yeast characters. Palate is resin and oily on the tongue. Flavour also has varnish and resin. Harsh lingering bitterness and alcohol. Balance is off.

Pours a ruby-tinged amber with a thick, frothy, beige head that lingers long. Nice lacing. Nose is a bit like fresh apricot with notes of pine. Taste is bold and bitter on a backbone of rich malts. Medium body, lively carbonation. Not my favorite style, but it’s a tasty, interesting brew.
