COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

(Bottle) Slightly hazy amber brown with short-lived loose off-white head. Pleasant aroma with hoppy pine to the fore with pleasant notes of citrus, toffee and maybe floral hints. Lovely palate with a fairly full body and plenty of fine creamy carbonation. Excellent taste too that evolves from a rich smooth sweet malty start to a long assertively bitter finish. In the mid palate the hop flavour steadily develop providing complexity and balance to the malt, but initially little bitterness. Considering the alcohol content it is well hidden - but there’s a lot to hide it under. An excellent beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours a lightly hazed orange amber, but with lots of small to medium particles, and an off-white head. Very juicy citrus aroma, fruity berry, pine. Flavor is more pine, grassy, and floral hops, still some citrus in there, though. Tastes a bit stale. Still pretty good, though.

355 ml bottle. Pours a very flaky copper amber with a resilient, thick white head. Aroma is tea, herbal tea, caramel, fruits, citrus. Flavor is loads of fruits, citrus, caramel, resin, cedar and pine. Finish is herbal, grapefruit, resin, pine....very bitter. Lingering tea, fruit and booze. Full body, sticky, oily mouthfeel and weak carbonation.

Bought this along with the Yin to make the Black and Tan. Wanted to try both solo first. Smells like light citrus, very subtle pine, and a bit of lemon. Pours a cloudy orange/copper. Lacing is clumpy. Taste: hoppy. Light pine, but more citrus. Feels a tingle on the tongue, but can feel the taste all the way to the in throat (weird sensation, but not unpleasant). The citrus (grapefruit) hits upfront but the back lingers more of pine. Overall, I like this. Maybe not at the price point (but that could change while trying the black and tan Yin and Yang.)

Poured from 12 fl oz bottle. Cloudy dark orange with off-white head. Caramel and toffee malt with grapefruit and piney hops. The taste gives a surprising hint of subtle chocolate. Medium body, resinous finish.
