Taster at Bavarian Lodge. It starts off looking like any IPA; a coppery malt body with a tinge of red, under a bubbly head. This beer was focused on Citra hops, which gave my nose impressions of mostly sweet grapefruit, but a bit of flower and pine needles. The first sip, though, is thick with malts. After a few sips, the hop taste settles more toward orange flowers or peel. There’s a touch of sweetness like a creme candy, too. The alcoholic this brews 10% above, but it stays nice and warm, and gently cleanses the thick malt so it doesn’t stick in my mouth. It definitely has hophead appeal, but its taste is finely tuned.

A pretty solid, big IPA. Kind of similar to Stone IPA hop profile, not as citrusy, but more floral, piney, and earthy. Good hop bitterness, with a bit more malt strength and sweetness than a West Coast IPA, more similar to Dogfish Head 90 Minute. Quite solid, also goes good with Yin.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A sweet nose of citrus and paper. Citrus, caramel, light bitterness that grows, some pine, oddly I want to say birthday cake, sweet, toffee, more fresh hops. Enjoyable. Smooth.

330 ml from Club de Cervezas. I decided to try "Yang" before "Yin" just to take a different approach. Pours a hazy dark orange color with a medium white head that diminishes quickly but laces well. Aroma is hoppy as expected, but of a sweet/spicy character and not as punchy as I imagined. Notes of sweet citrus, grapefruit, tangerines, peaches, flowers and some honey or beet syrup. Taste is balanced between fruity sweetness (especially in the beginning) and a strong bitter finish. Caramel malts are very clear with lots of beet syrup taste. The finish shows all the Alpha Acids and citric zestiness. Intense stuff! Nice. Big, syrupy texture. Heavy in the palate. A little bit of booze can be felt. Low carbonation. A beautiful IIPA, just straight-forward and simple.

From bottle into teku glass, red amber and clear in color, smoky peach in aroma and taste with a woodsy mouthfeel. I did not care for this.

Orange light hazy with a dark white head. A lot of wood honey and some caramel as well as pine needles on the aroma. A bit sweet and developping a lot of bitterness, yet nothing overpowering. Bitterness holds on and last a long time. Good though.

Orange pour with off white head. Aroma is sweet light caramel malt and biscuit. Flavor is very sweet malty start with a solid resiny bitter finish. Solid abv warmth but not harsh. A lot of malt and a lot of bitter. Medium/full body with good carbonation. Solid

Clear orange-amber with a very thick and creamy beige head. On the nose, lots of lychee, and a little peach, citrus. Still fruity on mouth but not as much as the smell. Medium to high sweetness, malty, fruity, caramel, medium bitterness and not much pine, which is a good point for me. Boozy finish. Imperial in terms of sugars, malts and alcohol but not in terms of hops and bitterness. Maybe a lack of freshness, you never know.

Beerfest Asia, Singapore on 27/06/15. 33cl draft. Clear amber colour with an off-white head. Medium body and carbonation. Aroma of citrus, pine, fruit and caramel. A lovely flavour profile. A solid malt backbone, with bitter grapefruit up front. Caramel and heavily hopped. Bittersweet hoppy aftertaste - tongue numbing! Hides the ABV well, but this is a big Imperial IPA. Pretty good.
